Guess we'd be going over the wall, then... heh, last time I was doing that in here I was trying to get outside during that gnoll siege...

... Gnoll... siege...

Ryn's ears perk up with enthusiasm, and he runs closer, tailwagging.
"Guys! I've remebered something!"
YOU IDIOT! The guards may hear!
"I know who we can go to instead. Come on!"
He winks and pushes his companions away from the gate.

(( Not going further yet so you can react here if you want, folks... ))

(( EDIT: Yes, this is GM-official. ))

Dexter goes with Ryn and whispers to him,

"Oh? Care to tell?  Seeing as the current wizard seems to have 'got' something, an alternative certainly seems favorable right now."

(( Well, that's a week... I know you're busy, but... ))

Ryn looks and ears around.

"Well, I actually don't know anyone else we might go to, but couldn't let the guards listen... because see, I think I know how we may...", he grinned, "visit this one Wright.
You probably noticed that this knecht said they're posted at north, south, and west gates?
That means they didn't bother to put anyone at the eastern one, which is locked shut since that failed gnoll attack a few years ago. The dogs destroyed the guardhouse, putting the winches under tons of dirt.
Anyway... we might try getting to these, or just scale the wall. It leads to shadier part of the city, so I'm pretty sure we'll need to worry more about keeping our purses than about someone raising an alarm."

The fox tilts his head. "Think it could work?"

"Sounds reasonable. Id still like to know why the place is barred off although, or if there is any way we can get passage, just to be on the safe side." Alexander says "But it sounds like a reasonable plan, although Id prefer the gate over trying to scale walls and getting caught by an archer."

The east gate looks normal, apart from a distinct lack of repair. The iron porticulis has rust in a few places, and the stonework is chipped and scratched. You can make out the rubble of what once was the guardhouse on the other side, along with several run-down buildings. What do you do?

Dexter motions for the others to stay hidden and carefully approaches the wall, checking to see if anyone is watching the gate and if there are any holes large enough to fit through, as this would save the trouble of climbing.

Although cracked in many places, this damage is only superficial. You can see small openings that would make excellent handholds, but none that would allow passage through.

Perception Result: +2 insight bonus to climb checks on the wall.

Not seeing anyone, or any way in, Dexter ties his rope to a grappling hook (included in the climber's kit) and tosses the hook over the wall. Tugging to make sure it caught, he motions for the others to follow before beginning his climb.

Aroth quickly moves to climb the affixed rope.

Alexander looks grudgedly at the rope, knowing that it will not be an easy climb. Looking to the others he asks "Umm...any chance one of you could hoist me up?"

The climb is long, but not overly difficult. As one of you reaches the top you are able to aid the others in climbing. Climbing down into the city is even easier, as the rubble of the ruined guard tower offers a pseudo-staircase, albeit one that would probably be more difficult to scale than to descend. The east ward of the city is as run down as any crime-riddled district could be expected. The streets are deserted and many houses have their shutters drawn tight. You must navigate into the main portion of the city and find Johan Wright, what will you do?
