Still, .doc and .rtf (ESPECIALLY .rtf) are the preferred formats for story sharing.

Now, the free
OpenOffice.org 3.1 apparently can read MS Office 2007 files. The "Open File" dialog has .docx on the type list. No idea how good it works, tho.
EDIT: Well, OO.org 3.1 opened the Kiba's story. Paragraphs and margin annotations are kept. Any special formatting (if it existed - how can I know without Office 2007?) got lost, it's all simple 11pt Calibri (Well, fall-back Arial; I don't have Calibri font installed).
