Because when typing sound cannot be conveyed unless the recipient believes that a certain method of typing indicates to the volume of the typer's message, thus creating the inability to actively type in a louder volume?

Geary: That means you get a companion for four levels, then it gets an upgrade.
Draykin: A very PAINFUL upgrade.

It means you're using really big font, and you may or may not be using bold. It's kinda hard to tell.
