Well, it's probably one of the first, if not the first, time he's had to show sympathy and compassion. Well, genuinely at least.

I am surprised. I half expected that he would blame the child's death on her, accusing her of possessing some sort of biological inferiority, as some did in that era.

But, then again, he might do just that straight after he gets over the initial shock.

Well that's ... dark. But at least now we can guess why the daughter's so messed up. She was demonically reanimated or some sh**. In fact is she even the reanimated original, or did some kind of demon grow up as her? Whatsisface never knew his sister, she died before she was born, the person he thought was his sister was not a person at all. The creepy possibilities are endless!

Well - it seems Julian may have been driven to use the staff on his daughter for more understandable reasons than curiosity driven sociopathy. He's not quite the cartoon villian the reds must see him as. (Cartoon? check. Villian? check. but more complicated.  )
