The size of the room increased dramatically as Virmir shrunk down to only a few inches in height. He looked down and found himself several feet in mid-air.
“Gaaah~!” he yelped (in an adorably tiny voice!) and tried to run back to his desk. This worked as well as it always did so Virmir plummeted to the floor, bouncing and skidding to a halt.
“Ow...” Virmir rubbed his aching tailbone. He looked up at the desk now towering over him like a skyscraper. “Well how am I supposed to draw now?”
Jonas, who had the good sense to drop the now-obviously unstable shrink wand, padded over to the miniature gray. He leaned down.
*sniff* *sniff*
“Hey!” Virmir shouted. He struggled to stay upright as gusts of air (well, gusts for him) blew him towards Jonas’s nose. “You know it’s me! You’ve been here the whole time!”
“Sorry. It seemed like the right thing to do.”
Virmir grumbled. “You’ll have to help me onto my desk. I can turn myself back to normal if I get up there.”
Jonas’s ears sagged. “Aww, do you have to? You’re so cute like this! You’re Virminimir now!”
Virmir shifted his eyes. “Please don’t call me that. It’s Virmir.”
“Minimir?”
“Virmir!”
“Virmini!” Jonas tailwagged.
“Virmir! My name is Virmir no matter how small I get!” The tiny gray hopped up and down indignantly.
“D’aww, it’s so cute how you’re trying to be menacing.” Jonas chimed. He scooped up Virmir and hugged him like a toy. Virmir flailed to no avail as he tried to get loose. “I could just curl up and snuggle you all day.”
“Help first, snuggle later!”
“Do I have to?”
“Yes! Help me get onto my desk!”
Jonas determined that the safest way to carry Virmir was by clenching his cape in his teeth. Virmir disagreed. He disagreed even more so when Jonas bounced along the floor and leapt onto his desk. The sharp movements tossed the dangling Virminimir to and fro, only prevented from falling by a thin piece of cloth and Jonas’s attention span.
“Here we are!” Yipped Jonas after setting Virmir down. The gray was frazzled and indescribably happy to have his paws on a solid surface. Jonas tailwagged, pleased with having been able to help.
Virmir marched over to his tablet and climbed onto its touch screen. His stylus had fallen down somewhere when he had shrunk, so Virmir had to hop and push down on the screen to make the tablet obey him.
“Whatcha doing?”
“I have a bunch of rune circles saved for quickly reversing transformations,” Virmir answered, “It’s too hard to write them out after the fact, especially since I don’t get to know in advance what I end up becoming.”
Jonas tilted his head curiously. A ? mark popped up above him. “If it’s such a hassle why don’t you update your invalid form immunity?”
“Because it's a character trait, not a spell shield!”
“Yip?”
“Ah, here’s the one!” Virmir exclaimed as he brought up one of the circles in the program. “This’ll undo any shrinking spells!” He hopped up and down over the ‘activate!’ button, but by sheer coincidence was on the one part of the touch screen with weaker sensitivity.
Virmir glanced nervously up at Jonas. “Erm... could you press this button right here? Just press it carefully.”
“Ok!” Jonas yipped. He brought his paw down on the screen and enthusiastically pressed the button. He also enthusiastically hit an arrow at the same time that moved the program onto the next rune circle.
“Oops.”
“Gah~! That’s a—”
The screen began to glow.
“—Oh blast.”
*KADOOF!*
What does the rune circle do? Cast your vote! Also, assume that it turns Virmir back to normal size before whatever you vote for kicks in.
