Virmir, pronounced like FURMURR!  ];)

Geary: That means you get a companion for four levels, then it gets an upgrade.
Draykin: A very PAINFUL upgrade.

I for some reason pronounced it as times Vi-Mir, leaving the r silent. I have no clue why.

I'm just not seeing how or why the second i makes an "ee" sound.

The first time I've seen that name, I pronounced it correctly, so I always thought it was Vur-MEER too. Glad I was right! [:)

(16:30:39) Virmir: You are a pony by default now? GAH HA HA
(16:31:04) Virmir: I never knew any true ponies.
(16:31:14) Virmir: I quite like your pony look.

Since I'm french, it's easier for me to pronounce it "veer-meer".
Sorry... ^^'

Yip, double "ee" sound for me. Not sure why, honestly, I tend to read most of others' names in something at least approaching English pronounciation, but that'd be the way I'd read it in Polish. {;)

And now I so totally have the image of you welcoming me on O'Hare one day, me saying "Hello, Virmir", and you BURSTING with FIERY RAGE at the mispronounciation... {:);
I'll try to remember to use workaround words until we'll get outside. {:P

Thanks for reading,

At first, I was split between vur-mur and vur-meer. Then I went with the former. And I still think it sounds better.  {;)

Based on the spelling, it's easy to see why people would think both Is have the same sound.

Yeah... as you well know... I've always pronounced it Veer-meer. I'm gonna go ahead and blame it on the same reason Cirr did: I first learned how to speak in France. The only times I'd ever pronounce it vur-meer is if I'm feeling hoity-toity and effecting a cultured accent.

Of the four elements,
None is predominant.
Of the four seasons,
None lasts forever.

Veer-meer. Because " i " always has an "ee" sound in portuguese.

I figured it was wrong. But I'm most likely still going to pronounce it like that. =P
Even though I sometimes may know the actual pronounciation of a name in english, in my mind, I almost always pronounce them in portuguese. The differences are funny.

I pronounced it kind of like veer-meer, but with short i sounds instead of long ee sounds.
so I got vir-mir pronounced the same way both syllables but with a v and m beginning.
so, technically there is no poll option for me. I'm strange! AND I WILL NEVER STOP PRONOUNCING IT LIKE THAT IN MY HEAD! MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA

When was the last time you hugged your sammich?
