1st Episode
“Oh my god, what have I gotten myself into now!”
Starting line: Las Vegas, Nevada
1st Pit-Stop: The Temple of the Sea, Trinidad and Tobago
Phil: Las Vegas, known for its casinos, special hotels, glamour and fame is now going to also be known as the newest starting point for the Amazing Race. The starting line is right here in Caesar’s Palace, one of Las Vegas’s most famous casinos.
The teams are now arriving at the starting line ready for the race of a lifetime! The teams are:
Lance Leight & Louisa Telesco, a dating couple from New York City.
Lance: Louisa and I have been dating for 5 months so far and hopefully after this race is over we will be an official couple and maybe a millionaire.
Louisa: It’s time to prove that we can win the Amazing Race right Lance.
Lance: Yes Louisa!
Phil: Sofia Brannigan & Lonnie Ankrom, friends from Chicago.
Lonnie: Me and Sofia have been friends for over 10 years so if we have to do a tough task in this race, we know who will do it and I think that will be an advantage to this race.
Sofia: I don’t know for sure but I hope you’re right.
Phil: Allan Tardugno & Emilia Oelke, Married couple from Wyoming.
Emilia: I have won numerous pool tournaments and Allan has competed in 6 triathlons so he would never give up in any type of challenge that needs strength or speed to complete.
(Editor’s note: by pool, she means Billiards)
Allan: This race is also testing our relationship because there WILL be some detours or roadblocks that could frustrate us.
Phil: Clayton Wheeling & Nell Kania, Dentists from New York.
Clayton: We have performed over 100 surgeries in our career and we are going to show all of the other teams that even dentists can win the race.
Nell: Indeed!
Phil: Max Lone & Ted Scalzo, a gay couple from Minnesota
(Editor’s note: I have a feeling that “a gay couple” might be a little bit wrong in terms of using it in a sentence so I’m sorry about that)
Max: Even though we’re gay, it doesn’t mean that we can’t win this race and we will do everything we can to win it.
Ted: The only thing that matters for us is winning the race.
Phil: Kelly Goodrean and Mathew Tatom, gymnasts from Indiana.
Mathew: We have won lots of awards in our club and we are going to win another award, the Amazing Race.
Kelly: My birthday is almost coming up and I think competing in this race will be an excellent birthday present for me.
Mathew: Winning one million dollars will be an even better birthday present!
Kelly: Yeah (laughs)
Phil: Dona Kiesel & Lorrie Host, models from Dallas.
Dona: This race will be a piece of cake for us.
Lorrie: You sure about that because what if the switchback roadblock from season 15 is back.
Dona: Don’t worry about it.
(Editor’s note: if you are wondering what a switchback roadblock is, it’s a roadblock that was featured in an earlier season of the amazing race which has the contestants do one of the hardest challenges ever to complete)
Phil: Christian Defrancesco & Julio Ellender, cowboys from Texas.
Julio: Being a cowboy was a tough task for us when we first started but I think the amazing race could be a little tougher.
Christian: A little tough! I think it’s going to be way tougher than you think Julio.
Phil: Jessie Knabe & Rosalinda Macenov, Professional volleyball players from Boston.
Jessie: I used to play ice hockey for 2 months but I didn’t like the injuries or how rough it can be, so I tried volleyball where I met you Rosalinda.
Rosalinda: Thanks Jessie.
Phil: Odessa Coyer & Naomi McGinness, hairdressers from Montana.
Odessa: People might think that I and Naomi are “weak” because we are hairdressers but it is time to prove them wrong!
Naomi: Yes Odessa and we are also competing in the race for the Red Cross and if we manage to win, we will donate ALL 1 million dollars to the Red Cross.
Phil: Finally we have female police officer’s Milagros Tidd & Eve Windley from Manitoba, Canada.
Eve: We are competing for Canada because there have so far been no teams that are from Canada and it’s time to make them proud!
Milagros: Absolutely!
(Teams are at Caesar’s Palace in the Texas Hold’em room)
Phil: Now as you may know from other seasons of the amazing race that there are surprises around every corner. And this season is no exception. For the first time ever in the amazing race, the clues that you will be receiving will only be leading to the airport, detours, roadblocks, and the pit-stop.
(Kelly & Mathew)
Kelly: Oh my god, what have I gotten myself into now! I thought that I could simply catch up on the way to the detours and other stuff, but just straight to the detour or roadblock was what I did not expect.
(Milagros & Eve)
Eve: Well that was unexpected right Milagros?
Milagros: Yeah, I never thought this was going to happen.
Phil: Once I say go, you will have to go outside and open up the clue that is on your luggage that you have brung in and then travel to the airport where the clue tells you to. Once you make it there you will do your first detour. Are you ready!
(All of the teams say yes)
Phil: Ok then, Travel safe…. the world is waiting for you. GO!
(All of the teams head out of Caesar’s Palace and run to their luggage)
Lance: HERE WE GO BABY, TIME FOR THE GAME TO START!
(Emilia and Allan get to their luggage first; Clayton and Nell get to the luggage 2nd while the other teams make it to their luggage)
(Emilia opens up the clue)
Emilia: Travel to Trinidad and Tobago.
Allan: Nice!
Phil: Teams must go to McCarran International Airport and book a flight to Trinidad and Tobago and then the teams must go to the Trinidad Christmas Hall where they will receive their next clue.
(All of the other teams open their clue)
Emilia: TAXI! TAXI!
(Emilia and Allan go into the cab)
Emilia: We need to go to the McCarran International Airport please and get there as fast as you can because we are in a race.
Taxi Driver: Sure thing
(All of the other teams get into their taxis)
(At McCarran International Airport)
Allan: Thanks, here is your money. (gives money to the taxi driver and then leaves the taxi)
(Julio & Christian and Milagros & Eve get out of their taxis at the airport)
(Dona & Lorrie and Max & Ted get out of their taxis)
(All of the other teams get out of their taxis)
(Allan & Emilia reach the airport ticket station along with Julio & Christian and Dona & Lorrie)
Allan: Can you book 2 tickets for the flight to Trinidad and Tobago.
Flight Checker: Ok here you go.
(Christian & Julio, Dona & Lorrie, and Max & Ted also get their tickets)
Lance: Can you book us two tickets for the flight to Trinidad and Tobago.
Flight Checker: I’m sorry but another flight will be in an hour, would you want to book a flight at that time?
Lance: Ok
(Lance comments to Louisa)
Lance: That Sucks! The next flight is in an hour.
Phil: The flight that takes off at 2:00pm carries Emilia & Allan, Dona & Lorrie, Ted & Max, and Julio & Christian. The flight that takes off at 3:00pm carries Lance & Louisa, Milagros & Eve, Odessa & Naomi, Jessie & Rosalinda, Clayton & Nell, Mathew & Kelly, and Lonnie & Sofia
(Trinidad and Tobago)
(Plane 1 lands and all of the teams from plane 1 gets off and heads to the clue)
(Dona opens up her Clue)
Dona: Who is ready to celebrate Christmas all over again?
Phil: Teams will have to do one of two things that the locals do when visiting the Trinidad Christmas Hall. Have a feast or play some music. In Feast, teams will have to eat the special Trinidad Christmas dessert known as fruitcake. One person will have to eat one whole fruitcake. When the fruitcake has been completely eaten the teams will get their next clue. In Music, one person will have to play a certain part of a very special type of music in the Trinidad culture called “soca”. They will get to use a drum set and then will have to play the part of the song they have been given. Once the person has practiced enough that they think they can do it, they will join a band of pro musicians and have the entire song played. If the contestant has played their part in the song perfectly, they will receive their next clue.
Dona: Let’s do feast.
(Dona & Lorrie)
Lorrie: I actually LIKE fruitcake so I chose to compete in the detour.
(Emilia opens up the clue)
Emilia: Who is ready to celebrate Christmas all over again! Do you want to try feast?
Allan: Sure.
(Julio & Christian decide to do Music while Ted & Max pick Feast)
(Ted & Max)
Max: I decided to take the challenge and I took Feast because I’m very bad at playing music.
(Lorrie heads to the table)
Server: Here is some fruitcake for you. Enjoy!
Lorrie: Thanks.
(Emilia heads to the table)
Emilia: Ok time to eat.
(Christian heads to the music room)
Instructor: Ok, here is the part you will play in the song and once you’re ready, come call us back to see if you will earn yourselves the clue.
Christian: Thanks.
(Max heads to the table to eat)
(Plane 2 now lands and all of the teams start heading for the clue)
(At the dining hall)
Allan: You sure you made the right decision Emilia?
Emilia: I’m halfway done the fruitcake so I guess so.
Max: Almost done eating it Ted (smiles)
Ted: That’s good Max but can you PLEASE try to not eat it too fast because I don’t want to see you choking.
Max: Ok.
Lorrie: DONE!
Dona: Great job Lorrie!
Server: Here is your clue (gives the clue to Lorrie).
Lorrie: Thank you.
(Dona & Lorrie leave the hall and opens their clue)
Lorrie: Go to the National Museum & Art Gallery.
Phil: Teams must now travel to the National Museum & Art Gallery where they will find their next clue.
(Christian completes his task)
Instructor: Congrats! (Gives clue to Christian)
Christian: Thanks. JULIO I GOT THE CLUE!
Julio: Awesome!
(Julio and Christian opens their clue and heads to the museum)
(Emilia finishes her cake and gets the clue while Max finishes shortly after)
(Dona & Lorrie reach the museum)
Dona: Ah! There’s the clue box (gets the clue from the clue box and then opens it).
Lorrie: Roadblock.
Phil: In this roadblock teams will have to find and take a picture of 5 art pieces located in the art gallery using the pictures that they have received in the clue. Once they have correctly taken all 5 pictures of the art pieces, they must bring it to the gallery manager where he will give them their next clue.
Lorrie: Ok let’s go!
(Meanwhile the teams from plane 2 have arrived. Odessa & Naomi, Louisa & Lance, Clayton & Nell, and Sofia & Lonnie pick feast while Mathew & Kelly and Milagros & Eve choose Music)
(Back at the museum)
Lorrie: Ok we got 3 of them, now where is the fourth one?
Dona: Let’s try this room (Both walk into the next room)
Dona: Find the painting that has a field of flowers in it Lorrie.
Lorrie: I’m searching!
(Julio & Christian reach the museum and open their clue)
Julio: So we need to find these 5 pictures in this gallery.
Christian: I hope this will be easy.
(Julio & Christian)
Christian: Just because we are in second place doesn’t mean that we can relax and take our time. There are other teams that could be here any second and if we are not careful, we can lose our position.
(Emilia & Allan and Ted & Max make it to the museum)
Ted: Ok let’s find these pictures!
(Christian sees Ted & Max on their way to find the first painting)
Christian: Crap, there’s Ted & Max. Hurry up Julio.
Julio: I’m doing the best I can but I can’t seem to find the pictures we need.
(Ted & Max)
Max: Thankfully I have been here before so I have a good idea where the pictures are located. Before we went to find the pictures, I see Emilia & Allan having a hard time searching for their pictures so I decided to see if we can make friends with them in order to help them.
Ted: I just hope they don’t sabotage us in the future.
Max: Hey Emilia, I see that you’re having a hard time searching for the pictures
Emilia: I sure am. I have never been here before at all.
Max: Well I have been here so I would like to know if you would want to let us help you search for you pictures.
Emilia: Absolutely! HEY ALLAN, Ted & Max are going to help us search for our pictures.
Allan: Great.
(Lance & Louisa and Rosalinda & Jessie finish their detours and start heading to the museum)
Allan: Ok Emilia that’s our fifth and final picture taken.
Emilia: Good. Let’s help Ted & Max because they helped us with this challenge.
Max: No need for help Emilia because we got all 5 pictures too.
Emilia: Great job!
Ted: Let’s go to the manager.
(Emilia & Allan and Ted & Max head to where the manager is)
Allan: Here are the pictures (gives the clue and pictures to the manager)
(The manager gives the clues to both teams)
Max: YES! Time for the pit-stop
(Both teams open up their clues)
Ted: Travel to the temple in the sea.
Phil: Teams must travel to the temple in the sea, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s famous landmarks. This is the pit-stop for this leg of the race. The last team to arrive may be eliminated.
Emilia: Ok Allan let’s find a taxi. Thanks Ted & Max.
Max: You’re welcome Emilia.
(Emilia & Allan and Ted & Max get their taxi and heads towards the pit-stop)
(Back at the detour)
Clayton: Finished. Boy I am full.
Nell: Well we got the roadblock coming up ahead so I hope that won’t hurt your ability to do well.
(Clayton & Nell gets their clue and heads to the museum)
(Lance & Louisa and Rosalinda & Jessie start their roadblock)
(Ted & Max arrive at the temple of the sea)
Ted: Thank you and here is some money (gets out of the taxi).
Max: Ted there it is!
(Ted & Max make it to the pit-stop)
Phil: Ted & Max. You are team number 1!
Max: YES! (Hugs Ted)
(Ted & Max)
Ted: Getting first place in the first leg of the race is really great and hopefully we can continue being in first place for the rest of the game! (Kisses Max)
(Emilia & Allan make it to the pit-stop)
Phil: Emilia & Allan. You are team number 2!
(Emilia hugs Allan)
(Back at the museum)
Julio: Christian, we have 5 let’s go get our clue
(Julio and Christian receive their clue)
Julio: Travel to the temple of the sea. Well let’s get to it Christian before the other teams make it there.
(Milagros & Eve and Mathew & Kelly finish their detour and heads to the museum)
Odessa: Oh man I’m already getting full and there is a quarter of this fruitcake still left.
Naomi: You can do it Odessa!
Sofia: DONE!
Naomi: Oh no.
(Odessa & Naomi)
Naomi: As I see Sofia complete her fruitcake, I just keep thinking to myself that this might be the end for us if we don’t finish the detour in time.
(Sofia & Lonnie gets a taxi and heads to the museum)
(Clayton & Nell go into the gallery)
Clayton: I don’t see a lot of teams right now so I think we might have a chance of not getting eliminated.
Nell: Although I do agree with you Clayton, remember how long it took you to finish the detour. There’s a good chance that there are teams that have made it to the pit-stop.
Clayton: Well let’s not waste any more time.
(Julio & Christian reach the pit-stop)
Phil: Julio & Christian. You are team number 3!
Christian: Great!
(Milagros & Eve gets their roadblock clue and starts their task)
Lance: Louisa I have looked at all of the pictures I could find and I still haven’t found the fifth and final one.
Rosalinda: Keep looking Lance!
(Editor’s note: what Rosalinda is doing was checking how many pictures Lance & Louisa have found so far and then telling them to keep on searching. She isn’t friends with Lance & Louisa)
(Clayton & Nell pass Rosalinda & Jessie)
(Rosalinda turns to Jessie)
Rosalinda: I looked at how many pictures they took and they have 4. We only have 3 so we better get a move on it if we don’t want to get eliminated.
(Mathew & Kelly enters the museum)
(Back at the dinner hall)
Naomi: Are you feeling like you can eat the rest of the fruitcake?
Odessa: I think so.
(Odessa manages to eat the rest of the fruitcake and get their next clue)
(Odessa & Naomi)
Odessa: The only thing on my mind right now is to get to the next clue and complete it as fast as we can because we are in last place.
(Back at the museum Sofia & Lonnie have started their roadblock)
Rosalinda: I FOUND THE FINAL PICTURE JESSIE!
Jessie: YES!
(Rosalinda & Jessie get their clue and heads to the pit-stop while Lance & Louisa finish their task shortly after)
Sofia: That makes 3 pictures Lonnie. Just two more to go before we can get our next clue
(Rosalinda & Jessie and Lance & Louisa reach the pit-stop at the same time)
Phil: Rosalinda & Jessie, you are team number 4 and Lance & Louisa you are team number 5!
Louisa: Yay!
(Odessa & Naomi starts their task)

Naomi: Being in last place sucks. Hopefully this roadblock can be easy because I do not want to end up getting eliminated in the first leg of the race.
(Milagros & Eve and Mathew & Kelly both finish their task and heads to the pit-stop)
(Dona & Lorrie)
Dona: As I see team after team finish and get their clue I know that if I don’t find the last picture quickly, it could mean the elimination for us
(Milagros & Eve arrives at the pit-stop)
Eve: There’s the finish line Milagros.
Phil: Milagros & Eve. You are team number 6!
Milagros: Phew!
Phil: So Eve what do you think of the Amazing Race so far, is it tougher than being a police officer?
Eve: Eh it’s about the same
(Back at the museum)
Lorrie: DONA LET’S GO GET OUR CLUE
Dona: Finally
(Dona & Lorrie opens their clue and travels to the pit-stop)
Phil: Mathew & Kelly you are team number 7!
Kelly: Great.
(Back at the museum)
(Odessa & Naomi)
Odessa: I am looking around the museum and I notice that everyone has made it to the pit-stop except for us and Sofia & Lonnie. I am just freaking out right now because I know that whoever finishes the task first is going to be safe and the other team will be eliminated.
Sofia: Got picture number 5 Lonnie.
Lonnie: Awesome
(Sofia & Lonnie)
Lonnie: Once we got our clue I just felt very good about myself right now because the only thing that stands in our way from finishing this leg is just the drive to the pit-stop.
Naomi: NO!
Odessa: Don’t think about losing the chance of staying in the game Naomi because we need to get the final picture fast.
(Dona & Lorrie arrive at the pit-stop)
Phil: Dona & Lorrie you are team number 8!
Lorrie: High Five Dona
Phil: And we got company
(Dona looks behind and sees Clayton & Nell running to the pit-stop)
Clayton: Hey Dona
Phil: Clayton & Nell you are team number 9!
Nell: It doesn’t matter where I finished in the leg; all that matters is that we are still in the race.
(Back at the museum)
Odessa: FOUND IT!
Naomi: There’s no time to waste Odessa. Let’s get our clue and get out of here before Sofia & Lonnie claim the final spot.
(Odessa & Naomi gets a taxi and travels to the pit-stop)
(Odessa & Naomi)
Odessa: As I am being driven to the pit-stop, I am just praying that Sofia & Lonnie don’t make it there before us.
(Odessa & Naomi arrive at the pit-stop)
Phil: Odessa & Naomi. Do you think you have been eliminated?
Odessa: Judging by how much time we took at the roadblock I think we are eliminated.
Phil: I think you need to look behind you.
(Odessa & Naomi look behind to see Sofia & Lonnie arriving)
Naomi: WE ARE SAFE! (Naomi hugs Odessa).
Phil: That means that you are team number 10.
Odessa: Thank you!
Phil: Come here Sofia & Lonnie. You did very well in this race but I’m sorry that you are the last team to arrive. I am sorry to say that you have been eliminated from the race.
Lonnie: It’s ok. We tried hard and at least we completed this leg (Lonnie hugs Odessa who is crying).
Lonnie: Good luck Odessa & Naomi and I hope you win this race.
Naomi: Thank you Lonnie.
(Sofia & Lonnie)
Sofia: Being the first eliminated is a bummer but you have to face it that if nobody lost in a race then that would mean that there would be no winners either.
Lonnie: Did you have a good time competing in this race Sofia?
Sofia: I sure did and I can’t wait to tell my friends about our journey!
(Sofia hugs Lonnie)
