Role Play Theater / Dungeons and Dragons Game
« on: March 30, 2010, 05:50:18 PM »
Ok! It starts at last! The official Crimson Flag Dungeons and Dragons Game! Before we begin, just a few ground rules:
1. Please do not post here unless you are in the game.

2. Please put anything said in character in bold and in a separate paragraph

3. You are responsible for keeping track of your own modifiers. Making a roll and then remembering later that you had a bonus will not change the result.

4. When making an action, please say what you will be doing (duh) and post your roll (under Additional Options). If an event could cause your action to change then please state the alternate action:

EXAMPLE:
"I make a Perception check to see if the door is trapped (roll). If it is then I make a Thievery check to disarm (roll). If I don't see that the door is trapped then I attempt to bash it open with a strength check (roll)."

This also applies to combat situations, and it should especially be done if there's a chance your intended target might die before your initiative order comes up.

5. Depending on the situation, I may be forced to make your character perform certain actions if you are not able to post. This will not likely happen, however.

6. Space reserved for stuff I might remember to mention later

« on: March 24, 2010, 12:38:29 PM »
Ok! Finally got all my assingments done! Now it's time to get this DnD on the road! This is the final ready check to make sure everyone who signed up is ready to start. Those who are on the final DnD roster, please post here with the following:

1. Whether you have your character sheet made
2. Whether you are able to post at least once a day.
3. The colour you have chosen to use for your character talking/thinking (makes things easier)
4. Your name/race/class (because it's easier than searching the other threads)
5. Your stats (probably means you should upload a copy of your character sheet)

Those that need to do this are: Kampkraft, Kenku, Aleph, Dragyn, Digital Vulpine, Tvorsk, Geary, and Stormkit

Role Play Theater / DnD Update
« on: March 02, 2010, 07:17:51 PM »
So I've looked at the times people have given me, and it seems like there just isn't a spot we can all be online for. This leaves a play-by-post forum game. This will go slower than a chatroom game, but it'll be more accessable. Are any of the people who signed up for dnd able to commit to making at least one post each day?

Here's alias's short story request. Not the best I've ever written but this was surprisingly difficult to do >>

Writer's Guild / Kiba's Request: Bedtime Stories
« on: February 21, 2010, 03:54:07 PM »
Just finished Kiba's short story request: the tale of how the arctic fox Matrim got his powers over wind. Of course, the story is mainly about his father...

Signups for DnD are closed. The current roster is as follows:

1. Aleph: Dragonborn Shaman

2. Kampkraft: Human Wizard

3. Stormkit: Catfolk Sorcerer

4. Kenku: Kenku Bard (unable to do chatroom game)

5. Dragyn: Catfolk Paladin (may be out)

6. Tvorsk: Vale Fighter

Unfortunately, I have no idea what difficulties this many people may create. Fortunately, I don't intend to make anyone step out unless absolutely necessary.

Role Play Theater / DnD Signups
« on: February 13, 2010, 04:08:39 PM »
Ok. For the Dungeons and Dragons game. Please post here if you want to play, and include what race/class combinations you are THINKING of. What you post here is not what you HAVE to play, but it will give me an idea of what to plan for. Once again, only the PH and PH2 will be used, as well as races from the MM and MM2, but I am very lenient with flavour changes.

Role Play Theater / Dungeons and Dragons Group

Thinking about starting an online DnD game via play-by-post. Will need to do some more looking into it but if anyone is interested please say so. If this does go through, we would be using 4th edition rules, which are simpler than 3.5 and more friendly to new people.

This link is to download the handbooks http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=3100be6fd9732e0308f8df73f2072ed61b3c8bd5390d5979b99f3f1679ee9294The Player's Handbook contains rules, guide to character creation, etc. and the PH2 contains some extra races and classes. I advise reading PH1 first. Character sheets can be downloaded from the wizardis of the coast DnD website. You can also find digital character sheets through a google search.

I've added the Monster Manual to the link. While not needed, there are additional race options at the back of the book. For the record, the Shifters in PH2 will be used instead of the ones in the MM if there are differences present.

Writer's Guild / Geary's Request: Crimson Flag RPG
« on: February 10, 2010, 12:25:54 PM »
First short story request is done. Geary wanted one about people from CF playing DnD. This was one of my harder stories to write because of all the characters involved, but I think it turned out ok.

Writer's Guild / Accepting Story Requests!
« on: January 31, 2010, 02:11:24 PM »
Heya! I've been a bit bored lately so I'm accepting story requests to get my creative inks flowing. If you'd like a short story written for you, please try to include as many details as possible and tell me if you want it set in a specific universe (PAW, Xanadu, etc.)

Current Story Order:

1. Geary

2. Kiba

3. Alias

4. Kenku

There will be a delay before I post stories after I finish them, as I want to give the requestee time to enjoy it to themselves.

All righty... this is set in the FenTech universe. I think it turned out ok. Was my first time writting a transformation sequence so I'm not sure how that turned out, and it sort of tapers off near the end, but I set out to write a toon tf and that's pretty much what I did.

Writer's Guild / Hunting
« on: November 26, 2009, 04:11:13 PM »
Jonas silently crept along the forest floor, his padded paws muffling any sound. The air was still—the fox’s scent uncarried by its breeze. After swivelling his ears to make sure he was alone, Jonas lowered his head to the ground and took a deep sniff. Dirt, leaves, and squirrels filled he nose—but the hunter blocked them out. Only one prey was important—only one scent mattered. Jonas followed the aromatic trail deeper into the trees, constantly flexing his ears to check for other predators after the same quarry. Within minutes he had found it—a rabbit sitting in the shade of a tree, oblivious to Jonas’s presence. Without making a sound he slipped through the brush and positioned himself behind the creature. Drawing on his most primal skills, Jonas leaped out of the bushes.

The rabbit never saw him coming.

Helplessly pinned beneath the his paws, the rabbit was motionless as Jonas snapped its neck. The fox extended his claws and cracked open its torso before feasting upon its milky flesh. As the smooth chocolate met his tongue, Jonas revelled in the success of the hunt. Sometimes the instincts just need to be satisfied.

Writer's Guild / Meeting
« on: November 22, 2009, 11:15:31 AM »
Again, this is set in the Pig and Whistle universe.

A man enters a forest clearing and sits down on a fallen log. Quietly he sits; five minutes pass, then ten, then twenty, but he continues to patiently wait at this spot. In time, he turns in the direction of a rustling bush, and sees a wolf emerge into the clearing. The man is not afraid. For a moment, the two do nothing but regard each other before the man places a small package on the ground. The wolf slowly approaches and cautiously inspects the item. After taking in its scent, the wolf looks up at the man, and he sees confusion reflected in its eyes—a flicker of a long forgotten memory. It lasts but an instant before the wolf takes the package in its jaws and makes its way back into the woods.  Only after its image fades into the trees does the man rise from the log and make his own way out of the forest.

“Happy Birthday, son.”

This is just a little viginette I wrote about Jonas's den. Its set in the Pig and Whistle universe and contains a few small references you won't understand without reading this => http://shifti.org/wiki/The_Fool_in_the_Fox. Enjoy!

If I had to name what I felt was the weirdest thing TFOR did to me, I wouldn’t mention being turned into a fox or having my aging skewed—but rather that it gave me a preference for sleeping underneath things. I suppose it’s a survival instinct since I’m so small, but I still think it funny at times that I’m more relaxed sleeping beneath a bed rather than on top of it. The reason I bring this up is because whenever I mention that I live in a den, people tend to ask me why I don’t keep an apartment—or at the very least why I don’t stay in Flynn’s guest room. The truth is that I simply don’t like houses that much. They’re too big and I’m simply not comfortable with the way the furniture towers over me. It’s a silly anxiety I know, but it’s just the way things are for me. My den is one of the few places that are perfectly designed for me. The ceiling is low enough that I don’t feel smaller than I already am, the floor is soft dirt instead of hard tiles or wood, and everything is at my level instead of sitting on counters or tables I need a stool to reach.  People say to me that I can’t be very comfortable in a hole in the ground, and to them I say they’d be surprised. My night vision is good enough that I only need a small nightlight, and its batteries last for months at a time. I keep my clothes and personal items off in small pockets, and my bed is mass of pillows and blankets. Sure, I’ll never be able to invite my friends over for dinner, but it’s a small price to pay for a space that’s completely and unequivocally mine.
