Woo! He makes a sale! That totally makes up for losing his ship!

(Well, if he can sell some to the others, and the rest of his supplies... Well, maybe not make up, but give him a start on replacing it... And when they save the queen he can ask for a boon... Yes, yes, most definitely he can come out ahead on this trip. Captain, merchant, and hero!)

All right... the Badass Voltar in top-right panel is one of the most unexpected (and cool!) images in a long time... but the progression of them both's expressions over the course of this page made me yip so much I hit my head on the table. {:P

"So Funny It's Painful"... is that a trope already?

PS. Sorry, Aztetos {;)

Thanks for reading,

No, I meant the "your post has been last one" part... and now I had to reply again to keep it the other way. {:P

Not really.  The object in question was actually established a while ago.  Deus Ex Machina is usually "comes out of nowhere and saves the day."

From Wikipedia:  "A deus ex machina (Latin for "god out of the machine") is a plot device whereby a seemingly inextricable problem is suddenly and abruptly solved with the contrived and unexpected intervention of some new character, ability, or object."
Source

This is really more of a Chekhov's Gun sort of thing, since we've seen it before, it just didn't seem that important.

Again, from Wikipedia:  "Chekhov's gun is the literary technique whereby an element is introduced early in the story, but its significance does not become clear until later on. For example, a character may find a mysterious object that eventually becomes crucial to the plot, but at the time the object is found it does not seem to be important."
Source

Just sayin'.
