The problem is... they're both right. And neither are telling the whole truth.
Saida just doesn't KNOW the whole truth. That's not her fault. Roko gradually turning into a doomsday bomb was done on the down low, and shielded by Brand's hatred of him.
Suzocon releases only the truths that will benefit him directly. No lie better than one backed with a small bit of truth. He has no interest in seeing Roko become a guardian (zenko) kitsune. He just wants raw material for his Frankenstein experiment.
As much as Saida doesn't want to believe it, those ain't lies, Princess. They're very uncomfortable truths he's using to twist Roko into volunteering as tribute.
Suzucon knows this. Saida is just a pesky insect to him. And while eating Roko would accomplish nothing, there is nothing stopping him from eating HER. The last time he had someone under his paw, it did not end well.
