Coffee is a two-player board game published by nestorgames and available for play on igGameCenter. The rules are simple (the objective is to get a number of your pieces in a row), but having your legal moves dictated by the orientation of your opponent's last piece makes the game very challenging. As such, I would like to see who is the best Coffee player on Crimson Flag.

To participate in the tournament, you will need to create an account on igGameCenter, and post your igGameCenter screen name in this thread (I'm mathgrant). (Edit: The tournament is only open to people who joined Crimson Flag before I made this post. ]:P) I will decide on the tournament format when I know how many players are playing, but be forewarned that you will need to coordinate with your opponents to make sure you are on igGameCenter at the same time. (Use Crimson Flag's chat room or private messages for this.) I also can't guarantee that there will be prizes, unless Virmir is willing to do some drawing for free, as I have no prize budget right now. But at least we'll know who the best Coffee player in the community is! ]:P

May as well throw my hand into this. Names Kenku. Btw, will there be a LITS tournament at some point?

That's a capital idea! It'd help publicize the game more and, if there are any kinks I need to iron out, help me see them. :P But it'd involve more work than a Coffee tourney, because I'd need to teach people how to use igGameCenter's Sandbox instead of the site having a devoted Battle of LITS table. :)

I don't know if one will happen any time soon, but I added Battle of LITS to the list of games people want to see on igGameCenter. Coffee is on igGameCenter as a result of somebody wanting it, and maybe if I'm lucky, Battle of LITS might get similar treatment. ]:P But regardless, if you have a BoardGameGeek account, thumbs up on that post would be useful.

I think I'll make the deadline for signing up 120 hours from the time of this post.

Don't let "I'm not feeling up for a game today" stop you from signing up, people! You don't have to play today! You only have to play when you and you opponent can coordinate it. This is a slightly flexible tournament. ]:)

The format of the tournament will be as follows:

For the first round, every player will play two games against every other player with the following settings: 30 minutes + 0 sec/move, 5x5 board, 4 in a row. The win-loss records of the players will determine which four players advance to the semifinals, where two pairs will play best 5 out of 9 matches with the settings 30 minutes + 0 sec/move, 4x4x4 board, 4 in a row, and then the finalists will play a best 5 out of 9 match with the settings 30 minutes + 0 sec/move, 7x7 board, 4 in a row.

Be sure to post links to the finished games when you're done; the games I just played against Jay are here:

I'll soon post a quick video tutorial on how to do certain things.

I have completed my games versus Trask:

Ack, this game's a brain-burner. I need to improve my skills. Also, hot dang we've been using over half of the time on our clocks.

While it is trivial to compute how much time you actually used, and I will be accepting these as official results, other players should remember in future games to change the time control to 30 minutes + 0 sec/move (the default, as seen here, is 1 hour + 1 min/move).
