Been a few months since the last tournament, and I'm being accosted by a large red dragon, so here we go again! I won last time, by the way.
http://awbw.amarriner.com/If you're not familiar, Advance Wars By Web is a browser-based version of the GBA (and DS) games of the same title. It's really simplified-- all the animations are stripped out-- but it emulates the real game nicely.

Serious: You're interested in playing this for several months in a friendly, competitive manner.
Experienced: You've played a AWBW match at least once before.
ONLY CF members who have signed up and played a game on the AWBW site BEFORE this date are eligible to play. If you just heard of this, sorry! We had some trouble with players not understanding how to play in previous tournaments and it kind of threw things off. If you are interested but have never played before, go sign up on the site and play some practice matches! If you like it, feel free to join the next tournament.

The first round with be ONE-ON-ONE MATCHES! (If there is an odd number, there may be one three-way match or I may give someone a free pass. Which I will do depends on how convenient a number we'll get for round 2.) Match setups will be mostly-random. I say mostly because I need to ensure at least one person in each pair knows how to set up a game.
I will assign one person from each pair to be the designated game-starter. This person will need to set up each game according to these guidelines:
Disabled COs: Grit, Hachi, Sensei, Javier, Colin, Kanbei, Sturm, Von Bolt, Hawke... I think that's it.
Weather is clearFog of War is off (It will be on for the finals, though.)
Boot interval is 4 days This means you have four days to start your turn before you automatically get ejected and lose. If you move one unit, this counter resets back to four.
The AET timer is 5 days. This means you have five days from the start of your turn before it is automatically ended (for taking forever, blast it). This is independent of the boot interval and does NOT reset, even if you move one unit.
Map info will be provided when we're ready to start. (Probably will go with Toast's again.
)
There may or may not be semifinals, depending on how many people join.
General GuidelinesFor more than two-player games, alliances ARE allowed. Expect factions to team up against you. If the match turns against you four against one, do your best and don't take it personally. All's fair in love and war.
(I will watch and see if trends develop that I don't like and update these guidelines accordingly in the future, if need be.)
"Base gifting" is not allowed. Please do not give away your headquarters to your friend if you get tired of the game. Play to win.
Please DON'T quit the game. Quitting upsets the balance of the match. Players who quit this game prematurely will NOT be allowed in future competition matches like this. ALL PLAYERS SHOULD STOP RIGHT NOW AND THINK TO THEMSELVES WHETHER THEY'RE STILL GOING TO BE INTERESTED IN THIS GAME 3 MONTHS FROM NOW, 6 MONTHS FROM NOW, ETC.
(Special circumstances are exempted, of course. Also this obviously does not apply if the match is down to two survivors.)
DON'T GO CRAZY AND BUG PEOPLE ABOUT THIS IN THE CHAT. This is a nice, relaxed tournament in a casual environment. You're welcome to chat about it, but don't get overly competitive to the point where it's disruptive. LAST TIME I WAS ABSOLUTELY FLOODED WITH PEOPLE'S COMPLAINTS ABOUT AW DISCUSSION GOING WAY OVERBOARD.
