I find myself wondering what the wyvern took away from all of this with memories of thinking (moreso anyway) and breathing fire

Anyone else think it's a coincidence that saute rhymes with all day?

Feeling like jumping off a cliff...aboard an airship.  Seems like a potentially unfortunate combination.

Nailed it

If you followed his explanation, he "shifted his cloak" (or more simply "shapeshifted") to wyvern once he was in contact with one to copy its form.

I'm going to go a step further and say he "merged" with it some how.

I'm definitely thinking merged.  The wyvern Lucian fell on in the previous comic has a chipped right horn, as does the Lucian-wyvern you see here.

It's an amusing coincidence that this page aired concurrent to the current Virmir World pages, he he he.  Both of these were planned years ago, then Virmir World delayed two years due to arm issues, while Crimson Flag was only delayed for less than a year. And also Virmir World pages are posted as soon as they are drawn while Crimson Flag has a 12 page buffer, so this particular page was drawn three months ago.
