2nd Major

Ok, having gone back to college in my mid twenties and subsequently being a heck of a lot wiser than I was at 18, I want to have my options open.

I want to major in history, or alternatively International Studies.  I love history and geopolitics too much for me not to do so(seriously I open up BBC every time I open a browser to check the latest international news).  That said, I kind of want... a more solid and more broadly useful bachelor's degree as well.  If the current economic state of things tells me anything, it's that you want to be as potentially useful as an employee in a broad a manner as possible.  So, I'm going for a double major.

Right now I'm thinking Computer Science or Business.  I kiiiinda get a feeling I'll get more votes to the former here but still I'd like opinions on what would be a useful major considering this will affect my employment credentials for the rest of my working life. 

So, thoughts?

I'm voting computer science, but really only because that was my primary, and I know nothing about business.

CS is very broad and there is a lot of demand for it. On the other side, people know this, so there are a lot of people going into it as well, as far as I know.  I'm not terribly familiar with the job market since I have been settled and not looking for over four years now, and I really only looked at the web development side of things (of which there is plenty).

Be a linguist. Go invent some other language that's sooo much easier for foreigners to read, write, speak, & learn than English.

There has been since the 1880s to name one example, but no one cares.

And actually English is one of the easiest languages to learn as far as simplicity of grammar in gender forms and especially noun case, it's just spelling and verb tense that really screw people over.

I may be biased in saying CS.

alas... I don't know ANY of the options listed here but I seem to encounter a lot of CS peeps about, so surely there must be demand! But as Virmir said.. lots go into the field, so competition would be high! and employers will be picky!.

As for myself my choice of Major was plainly obvious since Grade school! SCIENCE.. just that when I got into the end of highschool and 1st year uni, exactly what kind of science eluded me somewhat.. but anyway Ive settled into Biology nicely X3

(gee, thinking about it now.. Ive done more of a recount than offered any real advice ^_^; but what Im thinking is, that by working through it a bit you'll see what you like and settle down into something!)

Hmmm... thinking about it recent weeks... I'm starting to get a LOT more interested in economics now that I'm taking a macroeconomics course.  The details, once you get to know them, are actually quite fascinating. 

Plus, economics would fit better with an International Studies major.

So scratch all of that; my major is (and has been for a while) International Studies, and possibly a 2nd major in Econ is on the way.
