As a side note-- my original goal was to get 8 pages done before shifting gears but I think I'm going to go up to at least 10.

Her (and his?) question implies not only that it has happened before but that it has been undone (recombined) rather than remaining as two separate entities.  (and yes,  I have seen artwork where they have merged, I just didn't know if that was "temporary" (short-term).
