Game Room / Chistmas Freebies (On Steam)
« on: December 22, 2011, 04:46:35 AM »
I've got a copy of the original Portal and a 50% off coupon for the Oddbox, I can't use either, and I know quite a few fuzzies have steam; so if anybody wants them they're up for the taking!

Art Gallery / Fenonian Drawing Requests: Monstrous!
« on: November 20, 2011, 10:59:05 AM »
So, here's the deal. I haven't come up with an idea for something neat to draw recently, and I can't have that! So I'm gonna try my hand at a request topic; come up with something scary, strange, or just run-away-screamingly terrifying, and I'll draw it up for you!

I'm gonna take the first 5 requests, and I'll get them out as soon as I can! Be as detailed as you like, I need practice drawing!

Game Room / Realm of the Mad God!
« on: November 05, 2011, 05:34:36 AM »
So, recently I've found this interesting new game by the name of "Realm of the Mad God" which has a very simple premise. There is a mad god. His name is Oryx. You are in his realm. Kill him for glory and shiny loot.

It's a 2D shooter-y, RPGish actiony game in which you are one of about a dozen classes. Loot is class-specific with some sharing between similar ones. The goal is to get to level 20, kill many minions or Oryx, forcing him to fight you (and everyone else on the map) in an epic battle in which most of the combatants will die horribly. There's a permadeath system so you do need to be careful of that, but you don't lose too much on death, just that character and items they had in their inventory.

Dying is actually part of progressing, so don't worry about it. anway, it's a lot of fun, quite hectic at times, and really, really easy to pick up, so try it out! http://www.realmofthemadgod.com/
Special offer, comes with free wiki: http://forums.wildshadow.com/wiki/realm-mad-god

Oh, it's also absolutely free since it runs on a microtranaction system by which you can buy various neat, useful, but nowhere near needed things. The community is actually pretty nice, and often you'll find people giving away fairly good items simply because they can't use/no longer need them.

Game Room / Minecraft 1.9 Event- Fen's Server
« on: October 29, 2011, 11:02:52 PM »
So, here's the thing. Minecraft 1.9 is on the way, coming around the same time as or during Minecon, a little under three weeks as of this post. On my server I will be hosting an event revolving around exploring the new things to experience and adventures to discover.

So, my request to you is this. On my minecraft server, at 70.42.179.212, collect materials. Tools, building blocks, odds and ends, all sorts of things. But, most importantly, Ender Pearls. If you can get your hands on one (or more!) of these, please do your best to get it to a safe chest and hold onto it for the event. We'll be needing some.

Please sign up in this topic, as the server only has 10 slots available. Two of these slots are already taken by myself and Medik, so keep that in mind. And don't forget to put down your name in minecraft so I can add you to the whitelist!

The exact date and time will be determined as soon as I know when 1.9 will actually be released.

Slots:
1:Fen
2:Medik
3:Nikolai
4:Trask
5:Tallyn
6:
7:
8:
9:
10:

Tenative list:
Fax
Virmir

In addition, if you have or can get Skype, we could hold a group conversation over that during the event, although it is not needed.

Game Room / Fen's Minecraft Server
« on: October 02, 2011, 02:52:42 PM »
Sooo, here is the thing; I've currently rented a minecraft server with 10 slots in it. There are plans for this server that will not yet be revealed, and currently only two people are on it.

Here's the deal. I'm going to let CFers on the server, but you cannot build northward of the incomplete castle/fortress looking thing that's near the spawn, as that could potentially interfere with the aforementioned plans. Minecraft being what it is though, that's not much of a limitation because you can just walk in a different direction to generate some shiny new land to play on.

General Rules Apply; don't grief, give any already made building space for the creator to keep building with, and generally don't go and mess with things you ought not to.

If you'd like to get on the server, leave your name so I can add it to the whitelist.

building/adventuring/general whatnot is to be done southward of the (currently unfinished) castle near the spawn.

IP is 70.42.179.212

Now with 9000% more map!

Edit: You can now donate to Canidae Games, which will help support my minecraft server, in addition to helping fund future projects!

Game Room / Video Game True Achievements
« on: September 01, 2011, 04:30:43 PM »
So, in this day and age, many, many games include "achievements", a little thing that lets you prove you did something cool, and sometimes they come with points that turn into a ridiculous 6-digit number mountain of things you've done.

But, a lot of the time, achievements are either beyond easy (You finished the tutorial! Congratulations on having a functional brain!) or monstrously difficult (finish the boss run mode on Super Ultra Hard with only a small feather!)

That's not what this topic is about. I'd like to hear what you guys have done that actually made you feel good. Not because an achievement told you it was cool, but because you told yourself it was cool. What are your True Achievements?

To start off with, one of mine is earning a Netherwing Drake in World of Warcraft; going on and off on doing quests for the Netherwing faction from late-ish in the Wrath of The Lich King expansion, all the way to early Cataclysm before I finally bunkered down and finished.

It's definitely a grind to get one, but I thought it was one of the best mounts in the game and a fantastic mount, even if it was from the very first expansion, and almost nobody cared about it's content anymore.

Art Gallery / Fenonian Drawings (and other stuff)
« on: August 17, 2011, 05:53:40 PM »
EDIT: these pictures-of-drawings are pretty bad, there are scans of them further down!

Well, I decided to draw some things with a mechanical pencil recently, because I had a big book of blank paper specifically bought for me to draw things in. Which I then drew in. Here's a few pictures of what I drew, since I couldn't get the scanner/printer thing we have to scan them. As a bonus, I also took pictures of the sword and two knives I have in my possession.

First, a drawing of a staff topped by a claw holding an orb.

Then the moon, accompanied by a cloud in the night sky.

And a dragon based on a four-eyed dragon figurine I saw in a store and thought was awesome.

some fire, since I wanted to see how it would turn out. I think it went pretty well!

this is a drawing of one of the knives I own, and an optical-illusion cube since when I've always loved to doodle those.

This is a piece of toast with funky eyebrows, and you may have seen it somewhere else, drawn far better than it is here.

Last, but not least, is a quickly-drawn city I did up one night at ~2:00 AM when I couldn't sleep. I call it "Emergency City" and I'm thinking about using it in a story someday.

(the pictures of sharp pointy things will be arriving shortly, I felt this was a lot of pictures to put in one post so I'll put them in another)

Game Room / Minecraft Adventure Map!
« on: May 05, 2011, 06:20:22 PM »
So! I have been working on an adventure map for minecraft, and It's currently still in the works. If anyone wants to test it out for me, leave a message here and I'll send you the save file when it is in a test-able state.

The name of the map is "The Split Path" and the focus is the ability to take one of two routes, each with a different storyline to follow. One will be tailored to multiplayer, and the other tailored to singleplayer, though nothing is stopping you from playing either on your own!

Currently, both routes are still having themselves constructed, and at the moment each has a visitable area that "works" but nothing exciting is going on yet.

in the absence of having anything to send of to anyone who wants to take a look around, I give you a sneak peak of a building I've been working on recently:

Role Play Theater / RP ridiculousness.
« on: May 01, 2011, 06:25:46 PM »
earlier today, me, Zavier, and Draykin had an RP going on, as Askr, Seraph, and Maverick respectively.
This happened.

(19:19:22) (Maverick): (The room is a square one, many shelves and cabinets line the walls, all holding the items of the inmates. Anything of importance will have to be searched for among the masses of weapons, armor, metal, and other various things. There is a single sleeping guard on a chair in the middle of the room.)
(19:19:32) (Maverick): (Bleh, first time doing that.)
(19:19:56) (Askr): [it's good, we don't need anything fancy.]
(19:20:53) * (Askr) gets rid of his bar and grabs the sword that was dropped on the floor (for corpses are not known for holding things very well) and sneaks into the confiscation room, closing the door behind him as quietly as possible.
(19:20:56) VirBot: (Askr) rolls 1d20 and gets 1 (1).
 (19:21:02) (Askr): [._.]
(19:21:05) (Seraph): [XD]
(19:21:23) (Seraph): [You basically just slammed the door very loudly.]
(19:21:25) (Maverick): (Whaa-whaa-whaaaaaaaa)
(19:21:36) VirBot: (Maverick) rolls 1d20 and gets 2 (2).
(19:21:38) (Askr): {I shoudl have just climbed in upside-down through the doorway for the +5 bonus.]
(19:21:45) (Seraph): [XD]
(19:21:45) (Maverick): (The guard remains asleep.)
 (19:21:52) (Askr): XD
(19:21:56) (Seraph): [This is hilarious.]
(19:22:27) * (Askr) tiptoes across the room with the sword over to the guard.
(19:22:32) VirBot: (Askr) rolls 1d20 and gets 1 (1).
(19:22:40) (Seraph): [XDDD]
 (19:22:43) (Askr): [...BWHAHAHAHAHA]
(19:22:47) (Maverick): (XDXDXDXDXD!!!)
(19:22:47) (Seraph): [The die is cursed.]
(19:22:52) VirBot: (Maverick) rolls 1d20 and gets 1 (1).
 (19:22:53) (Askr): [CRITICAL FAILURE]
 (19:22:56) (Askr): XD
(19:23:02) (Maverick): (The guard is fast asleep)
(19:23:11) (Seraph): [The die does not like any of you.]
(19:23:16) (Askr): [oh gourd that's so amazing]
(19:23:36) (Askr): [so I basically ran in, slamed the door, and stomped over to him without waking him up.]
(19:23:37) (Maverick): (Someone please post this in the forums later! XD)

First story is now up!

Game Room / Minecraft Texture Pack in the works.
« on: December 08, 2010, 06:36:54 PM »
So a few of you guys may know this, but I've been working on a texture pack, and while I was working on one for myself, I thought it might be cool to make a texture pack for the whole community. If you know how/want to learn to change textures and skins in minecraft, I'd love the help.

If you don't, well, I could still use suggestions. It's a community pack after all, so I want to make something all of the minecrafters will be good with.

edit:
here's what I've got so far.

I have edited the gold block to be less horrifyingly hideous in two ways: a "realistic" looking (which is the bottom, it's full of specks) and the top/sides, which are no longer drastically divided. Tell me which you guys think is better.

glass is now completely transparent except for a border around the edge, and I made iron ore a very light silverish/grey color to look more like steel, and increased how much of it is seen on the rock to increase visibility. The mob spawner now looks like it's made of wood, and the effect makes it seem like a puzzle-box. Well, to me at least.

also: can you spot the secret change?

anything on the terrain file can be requested to be changed, so long as it's reasonable.

Game Room / Wanted; Citizens, Project Helpers- Minecraft SMP
« on: November 13, 2010, 06:42:11 PM »
So, Sandwichia is off to a good start. Last I checked, though, it was closer to a settlement than a city or even a town. So if you're around on minecraft, come on down and make yourself a home! If I can't get you in-game find me on the chat for PM me here on the site.

As for helpers... I'm planning on a new project on the server, since Sandwichia is functional at the moment and one cannot cleave caverns from the living stone forever. Here's a thing though. It's going to stay hidden. I'd like help, if anyone's interested, but you'll not be able to talk about it until it's finished. I call it Project Tower. Something of mine that can actually be seen from the surface.

If you want to get citizened with Sandwichia, or maybe want to help build a strange new thing with me, or even both, then gimme a yell.

Writer's Guild / Collision

It took a looooong time, but... I finally finished it, lost it, got it back, reviewed it, edited it, buried in soft peat for three months, and recycled as firelighters.

anyway, I am proud to present... Collision!
