As the old Japanese poet would ask... Is he a feralized fox who dreamed he was a kid, or a kid dreaming he's a feralized fox?

And yeah, I expect the mess around him is either bits of blown up tree-house or maybe from his landing (ow). Hmm, I wonder what the range of effect was for that disrupted magic circle.

You can totally see in the comic, that Julian started out as reasonable! Well In relation to his dealings with Carreyn X3

Too bad he didnt pay attention to Lucien more (though how on earth did he just walk into an  important meeting? surely the guards would have stopping him for such a silly reason? )
Stop of kid who survived being punched through a wall? It seems the level of physical threat you'd have to make to stop him would be quite, mmm, unhealthy to direct at your ruler's son.

As for Julian, I wonder how much he tried negotiating and how much was simply, "I won't stand for it!"

And this is where we discover that childhood trauma has left Lucian fireproof...

or not.

But we can hope, yes?

And this is why it's risky to try talking to pets. You have no idea what the dooks, barks, or meows you make really mean.

"But there are many would-be heroes, why should we cheer you on?"

"Because, unlike those other heroes, I have studied baseball."

"Good enough for me! Hurrah! All cheer for Lucian!"

Well, that's easy. It causes cliffhangers which in turn cause apprentices stomachs to churn.

That or let's you turn your daughter into a dragon.

"No no, after you."

"But we're the door guards."

"Yes, but I'd rather not have you at our backs."

"But he said to let you pass."

"No, I'm sure he meant we should let you go inside first."

"Will someone get in here and rescue me already!"

Heh. Can't help it. I know I wouldn't want them behind me.

Proof once more that the proper reaction to seeing an epic fight is not watching in frozen awe, but to RUN!

Run! Run like your life depends on it! Especially if your name has never been given on screen. And, especially if you are an old family connection who has promised to tell the main character stories of the old days once things calm down.

Why am I now picturing an ending in which the rescue is achieved, peace declared, a father punished, a sister de-minionized a happy merchant prince gaining a new ship or two...

And in the background these two are still dueling.

Why is Voltar looking awesome? Because he's Voltar of course. (And secretly the true hero of the story, not that he's going to intentionally steal glory from the others)

Hmm.

Hmm...

What would be really nifty? If it turns out that this is part of an escape plan... and that no, even if plotting an escape, they really are old enemies.

That said. Frame three. Heh. :}

Panel 4:

"So... Does this mean I'm off your Christmas list?"

or maybe

"'tis only a flesh wound. Come on down here and I'll gum you to death!"
