saw the staff breaking a mile away, sad to see it happen, well maybe not anything to move the plot forward needs to be done, besides the staffs are a dime a dozen in this story for all we know the dragon has been full released back into the real world, unlikely but possible.
and also you have touch her with a good knife in an unexpected place she could easily fall due t the fact that the only thing that touched her was a ring around her horn.
