these earrings were originally designed to counter the effects of fusion/potara earrings
if someone that is not the result of a fusion uses these they will be forcefully torn into 2 separate beings, usually of the original's lighter and darker sides of their personality.
each fission will generally have half the original's capabilities and strengths but their potential is doubled.
like the potara earrings neither fission can be broken down to further fissions.
