Good afternoon all,
After watching a few videos of Super Smash Bros. on YouTube last night, I ended up having a seemingly fun idea for a picture. Who here would be interested in being drawn into a Super Smash Bros. (SSB) setting with their Crimson Flag character? I believe such a picture would be pretty fun to draw, given the mayhem that could be going on with the large variety of character types we have on here. ;)
Regardless, I am planning to draw just such a picture that mimics the style of screenshot from the SSB games (see below). If any of you would be interested in being drawn into the picture, feel free to let me know with a response below. I was thinking of having 8 characters in total for the picture, so, depending on interest, I might have to pick and choose (or use an RNG) to pick who makes it in.
Comment below with a character reference if you would like to join in. Ultimately, I will try to make a coherent picture with everyone interacting in some way. If you'd like to suggest an action for you character to do, feel free to do so, but please keep in mind I might not be able to draw you doing exactly what you'd suggested, depending on who enters and the composition of the final picture.

As a suggestion, I can see Chase firing off one of his magic zaps at someone. Maybe something along the lines of how Robin fires his thunder moves. (I originally thought of this like he's firing a Star Fox style blaster, but it seems Fox is already pretty popular with people.)

Wow -- I wasn't expecting to get such an enthusiastic response for this. Given all the replies so far, I will end up having to pick and choose who makes it into the picture. For this, I plan to choose 4 out of those who submitted, and do the remaining 4 as by RNG. For now, I am closing entries for this picture was we have so many interested already. I will let you know details in the coming days about who will be in the picture and when I plan to start sketching.

I have figured out who will be in the final picture, out of those who submitted. As I had mentioned, I did a half-and-half scheme for choosing who made it in (I selected four, and did the other four by RNG). Those who made it are listed below (congrats!):

As for a timeline to completion, I suspect a period of 2-3 months might be required. Unfortunately, soon after posting this message, things have flared up at work in terms of the number of projects I am assigned to (and a couple of them have very ambitious, hard deadlines). As a result, for the coming several weeks, I will have little time for art. I apologize for the delay!

I had some free time to doodle today, and laid down the base "gesture" doodle for the picture. Please note, this is not meant to even be "sketch" quality level yet--I'm merely trying to get down the basic shapes, poses, and where things will be placed. Figured I would show it here, however, so you all would have an idea where the picture will be going as I work towards finishing it in the coming months (still very busy at work and will be for a while!).

Update: I finished sketches for the profiles at the bottom of the screen tonight. Hopefully things will progress into lineart for this within the next week (we'll see how busy things are).

I love how this is turning out so far. Nice work so far!
One suggestion, put me on the ground. Seems a little odd floating there. The pose seems to be more apt for running. Which would lend to little dust trails from the dash very nicely!

Did you change Caleb's pose? Looks like he's walking toward Tech now. Seems a lot clearer to me what he's doing.

Update; flat colors are kind of done...I need to add the glowing effects for the Chase's HaDOOKen, Featherfall's Comets, Spark's kick on Kenku, and Virmir's flaming hammer.

The night/space background is definitely a better backdrop for magic effects!

Yes, it is! This was actually the reason I decided to change it; personally I felt the cloud background was too busy and was also too bright for the glow effects to work well. While a space setting isn't quite as true-to-game as the cloud one, I think it works better for the image. If some prefer the other background though, I have the layers saved such that I'll be able to upload two versions when (though, by this point 'if' might be better than 'when') I finish it.

If you can't tell the difference between this and the last version, then my shading is too subtle. T.T
