Was this scene at all inspired by the MK story where Duke Thomas was cursed and the mages got together and analyzed the magical weaves around him?

Also reminds me of a Scene in Tales of the Questor with the same same idea of analysing the runes!

I get the feeling Lucian's gonna be stuck that way for the whole comic. He may as well no longer be a main character if that's the case.

How so?, just cause he can't talk or whatever doesn't mean hes still not the focus of the comic!

And anyway with BIG dramatic comics (and tv shows, books etc etc) theres usually more than one Main character anyway!

Multiple main characters help give different viewpoints , create drama! (we know Char 1 knows something that char 2 doesnt! OMG!) let people see more of the world too! (Like cutting from Voltar to Lucian, to Julian!)

There are quite a bit of "lets assess the situation by looking at it magically" scenes in that setting, so could have been a subconscious influence. [;)
