Oh they're reds.  For a moment I was worried, thinking that the normal gray guards were out checking as if everything was all hunky dorry.

I can't tell; in the fourth panel, did the Fen run him thru? That's what it kinda looks like from this perspective, I think....

In the orange background panel, the halberd is "behind" everyone.
The Assassin just gave them a stare that made the reds step away... and look for clean underwear.

Also, urm... does this mean that by blowing the staff up, no one except the main cast of characters (and villains) got feralized?

I believe it's only people in the immediate area of the blast. So Lucian, Julian, maybe Sierra and the guards that Bryce was holding off.

Could be everyone in the tower, even.  There were a number of greys in the area, running away after things started getting ugly.  The surrounding forest could have been safe, and that's where the prisoners were found.

Also, it could just be the artist, but I get the impression that the Fen assassin is even smaller than the average member of his species.
