Title: First it was XKCD, now it's...
Post by: Lopez on October 23, 2009, 04:06:56 AM
...Homestuck.

I mean, I'll have to say, I really like the term "FAUNA OF AN ANTHROPOMORPHOLOGICAL PERSUASION" far more than "Furry." (Although, technically, "Anthropomorphological" should just be "Anthropomorphic". But that's what gives Homestuck its charm)

It seems more and more of these surreal comic strips are turning towards our "style." Do you think that's good or bad?

Oh hey I just saw this too! XD (before I checked the forums) ]:)

I don't really mind either way... it seems to be not a negative portrayal in anyway (and I just started to read this comic a few weeks back, and I agree the word mangling is charming)

Well anyway I scoured the forums to see if there was any reaction, and there didn't seem to be any. I suspect most people dont really care (well the ones that surf the net ) its those that watch TV and see those TV shows that show the weird stuff/ people who read the magazine articls and all that that react negatively.

Also, there has been a slew of good press, lately if I recall, undercover journalists attending cons and such, and finding well... its just a bunch of people like any other that attend cons, so, in the end the whole OMG Eww Furry thing might be dying down.

I was following mspaintadventures when they were still working on Problem Sleuth. I stopped following Homestuck for some reason though. Just didn't find it as appealing I guess. XKCD will always be awesome though.

http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002702 <- Heh... the latest batch of updates are amusing.

Since this comic is run by forumites suggestions Lopez, I suspect how that there would be Furry fans of the comic, whos suggestions are being chosen by the creator, or something like that.

I read part of Problem Sleuth and found it absolutely hilarious at first.  It got a bit too vulgar and repetitive though, so lost interest after a while.

I'm guessing you didn't read DMK?

Nope.  Is it less vulgar?  May check it out if it's better, as I do find the psudo-text adventure idea pretty funny. [;)

What do you mean by vulgar?

Strong language, potty jokes, sexual themes, etc.  Non-PG stuff I don't care for. [;)

Ah. It really goes down once they encounter DMK.

*Has further comments!

It's good to get exposure to our literary genre (A ha ha ha ha just kidding no seriously,) but it must be dealt with well. I think that both the writers of XKCD and Homestuck are smart and intelligent people (A ha ha ha ha ha JUST KIDDING NO SERIOUSLY,) so I think our image will do well in their hands.

Kai stated: "Also, there has been a slew of good press, lately if I recall, undercover journalists attending cons and such, and finding well... its just a bunch of people like any other that attend cons, so, in the end the whole OMG Eww Furry thing might be dying down."

It's true!

I found this one day randomly and it went in my favorites.

So, yes. All for search of greater truth and understanding! ]:)
