After seeing what all you digital artists are capable of, I've been trying to come up with a few cartoony doodles of my own this past week.
My previous efforts were more along the line of bad MS Paint scribbles, in terms of digitally coloring anything. Virmir's ustream videos showing his drawing process really helped though. Layers - they are wonderful things.
While I will probably never be an artist, at least now my pencil is obeying my imagination, and I can color the images halfway respectably. These were done with GIMP (open source image editor) and a cheap graphics tablet (default Windows drivers, no pressure sensitivity or anything fancy).
Anyway, here are two that sort of fit with the theme of the website:

This guy is some random grey fox wizard, doing what I imagine wizards spend most of their time doing. Trying to take over the world! Reading up on how to do it.

This is a black cat black mage casting something burny. (Also, it looks like his hat is about to fly off or something. I'll have to fix that in later versions).

Really awesome stuff! I especially love the first one. [:)
Thanks for sharing!
-
Nice
-
ooo Hey, cool stuff! :3
-
Very colourful!
-
Very nice. I am impressed.
And yes, layers are awesome.

Another drawing of mine:

So yesterday, I was thinking:
Assuming you've joined a steampunk airship navy at war, but you're bored and you need more excitement, what would be the next "logical" progression in crazy-awesome? How about a death-defying boarding action in midair with gunpowder-rocket assisted hang-gliders?

-
... YES
Awesome.
-
Hehe, really toony & actiony! You gave it great perspective and dimension.
-
Great stuff. Keep it coming. [:)
-
Amazing work.
-
Thank you all for your kind comments and attention.
So far the characters I have sketched are rather generic. (I do need to work on making them more individualized - expressions, faces, hair, ect) I notice many of you have some rather well developed characters of your own. With your permission, may I attempt to draw them sometime?
(With school picking up pace soon, I might not have much time for art, but I might be able to spare an hour or two on the weekends or so).
-
Im fine with that, and am always happy to offer people a soda as part of an offer [;)
-
I don't mind either.
And the artwork is just amazing.
(Finally got time to see the great artwork, been a hectic month.)
-
You always have my permission to draw my characters. Only thing is, I'm currently reworking some of their looks and personalities. That, and they don't all have solid refsheets yet.

Absolutely, for all of mine. [:)
Can hear you with school and not much time for art. It's good to try and sneak a doodle in whenever you can though. Also helps with stress. [;)
-
You're free to draw any of my characters, if you wish, provided I get to see the results. {:)
-
Don't! It's a trap! :-P
(http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x478/EOEO5/AntimatterMuffin1.jpg)
This is a very rough sketch inspired by the events of two or three days ago in the chat, when Evilhumor decided to start handing out antimatter muffins.
Ah antimatter, peerless starship fuel, terrifying nuclear weapon, ... baking ingredient?
-
Gah ha ha! That's awesome. [:)
-
Heheh, I love me and my anti-matter muffins.
-
Antimatter muffins? I'm sorry I missed out. They'd have gone so well with my antimatter sandwich.
-
Play appropriate infiltration music. :-P
(http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x478/EOEO5/NinjaSquirrel1.jpg)
The squirrel is supposed to be Risu. Squirrels are always pulling crazy acrobatic stunts to get places they aren't supposed to go, so I figured a ninja would be a good fit. :-P I went mostly off people's avatars for this one.
-
Heheh! That's so cool. I like the perspective you used; architecture is hard to draw from that angle.
Altho' really, my specialty is invisimancy and counterattacks. I put the fire & lightning away. {;)
-
Looks awesome
-
Wait...is that...
Hmm...
Awesome.
-
Yeah, it's supposed to be you, playing cards with someone offscreen. I was sort of going off your avatar. (Actually, the proportions could be better - I'll have to try again sometime I'm not as rushed).
Let me know if there are any other details you want me to add to future appearances.
-
Well, it appears you did leave off the bell around my neck. I count that as somewhat important.
Honestly, I'm sorta' flattered you drew me at all. ^-^
-
There's also the tiny unimportant detail of the wings. ;)
-
Huh. How about that...I didn't even notice. :P
Yup. There should be wings, too.
-
I'll have to fix that then, one of these days. Sorry about any errors.
Here's one I did the other night:
It's the black cat wizard character (for now I'm calling him Max) trying not to get his butt kicked by a rival air-wizard on a mountaintop.
PS, I've finally joined furaffinity: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/eccentricorbit/ (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/eccentricorbit/). :-P
-
wow, that is an awesome artwork there.
Really nicely done, you have improved just in the pictures I have seen you draw.
-
Just thought I'd throw a random sketch at the forum. ]:)
-
He certainly would find a way to sell those, ha ha
