Last page, they were still hanging out the back row watching. I guess they're saving their strength to clean things up once Machop has worn the party down.

Ya, guess i must have missed it. Granted they could just want to see him die. I don't think the other two likes this Machop that much.

What level is the little guy that he took Machop down so much? Is his type more effective than Evee's type?

It doesn't look like he took machop down that much. But yes, normal attacks (evee) aren't very effective whereas lightning (pichu) will be normally effective.

Fighting type doesn't resist normal. Maybe pichu's move just has more power than tackle. Or it could be a physical-versus-special defense thing. You know, damage categories...

Either that or it is one of those cinematic things where type differences don't really matter. As in the game most type counters are like a 1 hit wonder that deals like 90% of the Pokemon hp. So this could all be for a cool battle rather then anything ehh Lore friendly.
