Title: Arcadia primer

What is this? This is basic information of Arcadia the first reality/world I made and where Kyle origionaly woke up in. This is mainly ment to be used for D&D 5e (2014 rule book, though you could use the 2024 rules)

This isn’t overly detailed for a multitude of reasons primarily for player world building.

About Arcadia/comfersia


General setting: High fantasy,midevil/arcanepunk



Arcadia is a small continent on the world known as Comfersia, this primer will give you the basics of the world/setting and a general idea of what the ruins of Hammerfell is about.





Timeline

The basic history of Arcadia:

0BC: Acadia was formed by multiple volcanic eruptions along with the world during its creation.
Its to be beleaved the old dragon gods used all thier breaths to make this world.

500BC:Humans from an unknown origin com apon Arcadia and begin to make their own way in life

505Bc: Davenport is founded

510 BC: Hammer fell beings to be constructed

515BC: First contact made with Demihumans (Kobolds) in the black spire mountains

520BC: Fist contact with other demi humans

525BC: Silvertear founded By Jova

550BC: Hammerfell finished construction first King Corlinated

555BC: Krothel founded as a small fishing Village

600BC: Krothindel founded after a argument between two nobles.

606BC: First attempt to navigate the misty Ocean went under way.

610 BC: Thransboro founded

615 BC: Thaddius Endmund is born

620 BC: Misty expedition reported missing and dead all further Expeditions are put on hold.

660 Bc: The blackspire Mining correlation founded


665BC: Edmund becomes King of Hammerfell

666 BC: The first sighting of the Flaming legion noted.

669 Bc: The crimson crusaders become an official military force

695 Bc: Mystrious orb (or the orb of Denux) found in the black spire mountains by Kobolds.

715 BC: Silvertear army ambushed by Burning legion

720 Bc: Black Lion trading guild founded and assist in the war against the demons.

775 Bc: Crimson cruisaders lost in a fight and where also ambushed outside of a farm near Hammer fell.

777 Bc:
*Order of the flaming snake founded by Kyle Silverfall, Sarrah Silverfall, Devon Vohdo,Gervak Rivers,Lyra Clearwater. Became a known demon hunting organisation.

*The Battle of Hammerfell
King Endmund dies
*Denux unleashed
*Jova killed by Burning legion
*The battle of Drenux happens.
*The Unmaking Calamity
*The order of the flaming snake all die during the battle


778 AC:
*Hammerfell abandoned after the fight
*Crimson crusaders disbanded
*The order of the flaming snake are given vigil and their saga written by a bard
*The field of unmaking made a No go zone.

779 AC: The United Arcadia front founded

800 AC:
*new monsters spotted near Hammerfell
*A call to action made
*New ships made to try and navigate the fog.

Major events/Notes

The Misty Seas:
The sea is constantly foggy 30 miles outland, every place is self-sustainable in a sense there is plenty of ore, fertile ground and fishing. No one has made a successful expectation into the fog, its unknown what lies in the fog.

The Clamity of unmaking:

This event is a giant battle against the legion and a fragment of Unmaking a creature that basically can unmake the world. How ever the Order of the flaming snake was able to take down the creature and it cost their lives. This causes the are to be blighted by dark purple crystals in the shape of a dragon. No evil came from it until recently.

The order of the flaming snake:
Is the name given to the heroes or Demon hunters that took down Drenux (the dragon of unmaking), Not much is known about them outside of their names.

The Burning Legion:
This army came from the depths of Hell itself, led by an unknown assailant. Who might have summoned them here for his or her own purposes?


Abominations from the Abyss: Old gods, eldrich monstrosities.

Locations



The Towns/ Cities of Arcadia:

Twinroad: The smallest settlement, this was apply named due to the road forking in the area. Its a trading hub for everyone, including the less savory characters.

Silvertear: Originally founded by jova this city became well known for his crystal palace and its magic. Many people who aspire to learn magic come here.

Dravinport: Currently ruled by James Mulligan, this was one of the origional port cities,  a major hub for fishing mainly. ALso for some mining here and there.

Kothindel: Also known as the city of sin is one of the more poorly ran and corrupt citys on Arcadia. Plenty of cimrinal organizations run from there, and it gotten worse when their leader went missing.

Krothel: Kothindels older brother a small fishing city mainly aimed towards Clamming, And seaweed growing. Its a nothing town.


Murkendel: A swampy village most people are demihumans (kobolds mostly), most people avoid the area, is known for producing leather and proving medicine to the ill.

Thansboro: This is actully a fort/strong hold of a barbarian tribe known as the Silverwolfs. Sadly this town has long since been abandoned after it was attacked by a black dragon.

The Black spire mountains: is actully a large underground city believe it or not. Made of dwarves mostly and Kobolds. Known for its strong mining communtiy and production.

Playable Races



The Known races of Arcadia:



Humans: The simple ones known for its yearning for production,adventure and expansion.
Most are able to co-exist with others but some harber great hatred towards those whom arnt superior.

Terra Demons (Tieflings): No all demons are evil, not all want to fight for the Legion, most came to this world in the search of a more simple life. While shunned by most they are frequently seen near more Demihuman friendly villages.

Dwarfs: Live mostly in the mountains rarely do they interact with othe folks. Often pale looking due to the lack of sun. Kinda werry about other people, but gain a trust of a dwarf you have a friend for life.

Elves: Primarily live in nature or heavily wooded areas around the blackspire mountains. They rarely/never interact with others nor do they come out. There are some, thos are the exception not the norm. How ever after the calamity more came out of the wood work.

Kobolds: Kobolds have many different tribes each with their own preference, they are loyal, though can be shifty. And most arnt followers of any particular dragons.

*Red: Mostly in the minds, underground
Green: Tend to live in the forest/swamps, have a more alligator like look
Blue: Tend to be near rivers, feet and hands are webbed, have webbed backing.
White: Tend to live in more colder areas, though none thing white kobolds exist.
Gold: Dont exist
Brown: No records of brown scaled kobols have been noticed so there for dont exist.
Black: Rare but they do exist.
(other colors) Unknown.

Demi dragons (dragonborn): Their lineage ties closely to the dragon gods of old.
(Using the 2024 rules)
*Has dark vision
*Can fly as a bonus action (Must be level 5) Fly speed is same as walking

Demi humans: (Humblewood races except birds,) includes: Tabaxi,Harengon,saytor) They tend ot be close to Mammals, (fox,deer,raccons,wolfs,martins,mice,rats,cats,rabbits ext) some do look more human then others but those are extremely rare. No known demihumans of any avian race.

Sea Folk: Often look like sharks, Dolphins and some strange hybrids known as Sea demons, (mix of Tiefling and sefolk pointed muzzles but spaided tails), Luminaris (Otter, elf like ears Large dolphin like flipper) They can live on land though require more water.



Gnolls: are a nomadic tribe in the black spire mountains, not much is known outside thier penchant for hunting.

Werewolf (pureblood)(Shifter Race)
*You cant not bite some one to convert them into a werewolf otherise your character will be hunted by his own kind (its consider a great sin to bite a non were person)

Werewolves where tribal in nature and prefer to keep their bloodline as pure as possible Most work for the greater good while others are hermits, few barbaric.

Underwater breathing: can breathe underwater

Magically adept: can choose 1 cantrip from the wizard class, your spell casting is your normal class's casting ability, where acceptable, otherwise will use either Cha, Wis or int, whichever has the highest modifier.






Gods

The gods of Arcadia are depicted as dragons. Some are good while others not so.


Jova Lightbringinger: The golden dragon of peace
Lawful good: The one true light, the creator, the beginning, and the end. His light brings lifes, light, and warmth

Jasper Flamewind: The red dragon of Flames and war
Neutral: The flame gives and takes, War kills and destroys. But what is left will give birth to something new. Sometimes there is a need to cleanse the world with the flames of rebirth.


Mainebarn Moonwaine: The silverdragon of Night,and wildlife
Chaotic neutral: The night gives birth to great evils and great beauty. The night can take and give in equal measure, but the night if for the free and the wilds.


Nethri: The black dragon of Death
Lawful evil: When there is life, there is death I am the other side of the coin, the brother of Nevari, I bring death and give people a way to their judgment and afterlives. Or I take their souls for my own.

Nevari: The green dragon of Life
Lawful Neutral: I am the life giver, I bring life everywhere I go. I don't deal with death and decay like my brother, we are two sides of a coin. I gave birth to all, and all should know me.


Mica Stonhammer: The Brown dragon of earth and mountains.
Neutral: I am the earth I am the mountains, I am the Iron that is red hot in the furnace, I am the Coal that warms your homes. I am the earth and the ground and the farms. I am of the earth and the earth is mine to mold.

Odin Alseer: The white dragon of the past, present,future
Any: I see into all timelines and all possible paths those who follow me do have a gift, I see great godo and great evil, and somthing else. Somthign is wrong, something isnt right.

Hebi Otaku: Unkown
EVIL!




Factions:

United Arcadian Front: The main general alliance between Black lions, the former Crimson crusaders, as well as several other factions to present a united front. Each faction has one or two representatives

The Keepers of the Deep Green: Are the druid/elven faction, while note purists they tend to mostly stick to the forests keeping an eye on the wild life and keeping monsters in check

The Black Spire Mining colalition: They are mostly a guild of Merchantiles made of underground folk (dwarves, Drow,kobolds ext) Primarily trade ore, rocks and other magical items they find.

The Order of the Pale moon: Is a faction of werewolves that help bitten try to find some semblance or normality. Manly in Dravinport and working with the Black lion Traders guild. They often have meetings and go after any trives that attempt to disrupt the peace of infest people with the curse.

The Black Lion traders guild: Despite its name they are information gatherers and explorers and are the head of the new Fogcutter Project hoping to find new lands.

The Silverwolf pack: A tribe of mostly humans (turned kobolds due to several events befor the calamity) are a ribe of mostly barbarians hunting rouge dragons and Gnolls. They mostly keep to them selves.

The Silvertear Mage guild: This faction was formerly run by Jova before becoming a god (according to them). Investigate magical disturbances, they invented several pieces oc magical technology, some blowing up spectacularly (don't ask about the Horseless carriage incident)

The Old guard: A new band of mercenaries how ever have an intense hatred towards non human folk due to this bias they are seen as nothing more then Bandits and ruffians.
(Players are NOT allowed to pick this faction unless its Former and the character is reformed. Or your trusted with the Gm)

The Adventurers Guild: Your generic mundane guild that gives quests and bounties.


Order of the Flaming Snake (Disbanded/No longer exists):
This faction was made up of five people (the dms characters). And are dead, the group was well known though most people never heard of them, but know several heroes fought side by side to defeat Drenux and died in the process.

(Players who wish to reform this faction can do so. However will require you to learn more about how it used to run. Despite the name, they only go after ones who broke the law or belong to the legion.)


Player made faction: Players can make their own for background purposes, however, its subject to Dm approval.


Myths and Legends

*The world was created by all the dragons breathing all at once; they became mortal and all died at some point. Something the Gods are gone or have been whisked away. This hasnt been proven.


*There are beings known as Wayward souls, souls that when they die are reborn into another reality. Its unknown how this works or how they were made. However, may think that the heroes that were a part of the Flaming snake were such beings.
(Note: Players who wish to have this trait will need to speak to the Dm for approval. However you are not a reincarnation of the previous heroes but an unknown factor. There are no mechanical benefits other than major trauma.)

*Realm walkers are creatures that are a result of Abominations from the Abyss and mortals, um….Union…. They gain the power to Realm walk. Or Traverse realms, however, it takes a lot of energy and a long time to recover.
(Note: Realmwalkers are not a class or ability a player can take at the moment; this is just a myth/legend. Traversing to another reality is often deadly and dangerous.
And there is no mechanic in D&D to allow for it. )


Magic:

Magic works similar to how it works in the rules and in D&D spellcasters have only so many slots to use as well as having to prepare for them. How ever Spells dont require Components to work.


Normally Magic users are born with the Spark (the ability to spell cast) In this world its literally an small Organ in your body that stores mana. Over exertion can cause death though its extreamly rare and doesnt happen often.

Magic is hereditary in this world passed down form family to family. How ever in rare cases a Child born form non magic parents have the spark. They tend to refer to them as Players
(You guys)


Besides Wizards abilities here are some other notes:

Warlocks dont get their powers from outside sources or making deals, as they have some kind of linage or connection to these beings. Or from a weapon and or having a strange green crystal that allows them to use their powers.
(example a great old one is probably a Abomination or some other outside god)

Paladins/clerics: Powers come form their oath and not their gods


Other means on magic casting: WHile extremely pricy there are devices known as Focuses that allow non magic users to spell cast Normaly a Mana crystal inside a pendant, or some other device. How ever, they are insanely expensive and rare as many people dont trust Mana tech due to how explosive they tend to be.

High magic areas: Are areas where a tun of magic is used over many many years or areas that have high concentrations of Mana crystals, these areas are extremely dangerous to explore, and contain tougher monsters or highly volatile areas. Certain areas will have wild magic while some can treat spells as a higher level, how ever these ares are extremely rare to come across an are highly dangerous.
(For players: THis is a system that needs working so some testing will be needed there are three WIld magic statuses:
Wild magic: The area you are in counts as if your a wild magic source, any spell over a cantrip will roll a d20 wild magic happens on a Nat 1 or a Nat 20

*Upcast: Casting anyspell above level 1 will be upcasted at the next level. At no cost.

*Unstable: Casting magic can result in any crystals exploding near by causing 5d6 force damage, when casting a spell any Miss will strike a crystal and any roll above a 75 on a percentile dice will cause an explosion)



Mana sickness: Being exposed to high levels of mana can cause mana saturation or Sickness, Symptoms include Nasua, Vertigo, Convulsions, Spontaneous combustion, and or death.

(For players staying to long ie equivulent to 1 long rest: will cause a point of exhaustion)


Mana crystals: Are crystalices forms of magical energy it can be mined and sold how ever it takes alot of finesse to do so, as Mana is highly volatile and is prone to exploding or causing a wild magic surge.




Economy:

Currency is Baised on the following:

Copper
Silver
Gold

The Economy is basied around trade, port towns delever seaweed, Fish and other non sentant life for food. The inner towns provide herbs, Farm crops, ore ext.

The conversion rate is the following:


500 Copper = 1 Silver Peice 
5000 Silver= 1 Gold piece
ALl forms of coins are common, Most people deal with Copper and silver with gold being used for more expensive endevers.



Backgrounds:

All backgrounds are Reflavored stuff from the Phb, Sword Coast Guide etc:

Defining moments: (choose one or make one up for flavor)

-You where saved by a Mysterious Red fox during the battle of Hamerfell.

-I personally saw the portal open, Every night I feel rage I must rip and tear until its done. They Killed my Pet Bunny!

-I saw the King die with my own hands a bunch of Demi humans where the assassins. To this day I distrust them…But I know I must bear the burden of this world almost being destroyed by our own hands.




Silvertear Mage rep: (addional traits to pick: Scholar )

(House Dragon): We are the strongest magic users and the best house
(house Three toes sloth) We are not the best, but slow and steady wins the race
(House Cobra) all that is important is Power and control
(House Flaming Griffion) Who wants to play Odd ball?


Demon Hunter: (outlander, Folk hero)
Defining Moment:
-I stood my ground against a Lesser or Legionare and survived to tell the tale


-The legion attacked my town and since that day I vowed revenge against them and Followed The order of the Flaming snakes foot steps.

-I aim to prove not all demons are evil, But also to make sure justice is served for those who will bring ruin to the peaceful ones.
