Looks more like a paddle or an oar. I've seen characters use those as weapons before. Well, one character anyway.

It's in transit to being a sword!  You can't turn a giant wooden thing into a slender, sharpened metal one all in a second.  |:P

I see it now. I missed the little lines around it. Also wasn't paying enough attention to the final frame.
