I'm getting an increased number of inquiries about a Crimson Flag wiki or source of world information. Or at the very least, plot summaries and character appearances.
Long ago I actually had one set up with the intention that I was going to fill in details as I went along with the comic. But then I of course left it when I realized I don't like messing with world details and notes and would rather spend that time actually making more comics.
We have a lot more comics now and a lot more readership. Are people interested in contributing to a fan made wiki? Essentially I would set up something like this: http://dow.crimsonflagcomic.com
Interested parties would contact me and I would set them up with an account for editing. Beyond that, all the content would be up to you guys. You would be free to set it up and organize it however you wanted, drawing canon information from the comics themselves.
After some number of months I would take a look at it and if it looks accurate and presentable, I'll style it up to make it look more like the website and then make it "official", adding a link to it in the site navigation.
Are people interested in contributing? If I get three or four people, I'll consider setting this up.

ooh.... that could be neat. I might be interested in contributing some, provided we get some guidance in it.
-
Nice idea, Virmir! This would be a fun thing to do and contribute to, I think.
-
I think it'll be interesting to see how this would progress. I cannot make any concrete promises to contribute, but I will if I find the time (and I remember, haha).

One issue with a fan wiki is interpreting what exactly is going on in nonverbal pages. However, author verification or correction will help.

I have set up a very basic wiki at
http://wiki.crimsonflagcomic.com
Interested parties may contact me and request an account for editing. I'm going to limit this to people who are at least marginally active in the forums and/or chat. I would suggest you guys getting together and setting up some guidelines between yourselves, but whatever you want to do with it is up to you! I'll probably give it 3 to 6 months to see how it comes along and if it looks like it's taking off, I will style it up and make it look nice. In the meantime:
- Feel free to steal artwork from comic pages or other sources. Feel free to ask me for high resolution versions of comic panels if you want any.
- I'll be happy to review pages for factual accuracy.
- I won't be giving any plot related details out.
- I probably won't be giving any details on anything not explicitly shown in a comic (although on rare occasions I do muse about things in the chat and that's fair game).
- I won't be clarifying anything in comic pages that's subject to multiple interpretations, unless it's because of an artistic error or something like that.
Here's a guide on syntax and styling: http://wiki.crimsonflagcomic.com/doku.php?id=wiki:syntax
Any questions, let me know!
Have fun!

This topic does not exist yet
You've followed a link to a topic that doesn't exist yet. If permissions allow, you may create it by clicking on “Create this page”.
Possibly if I was logged in I could create a page, but while there is a log in button there's nothing to register. And I assume that when you say you've set up a 'very basic wiki' you don't mean 'there's a page with nothing on it', so apparently something went wrong.

You need to contact me and I will create an account for you, as mentioned above. [;)
I'll just need a preferred username and email address. I'll set you up with a temporary password you can change.

Bumping this topic, as people have become interested again. I just updated the wiki software to the latest version, so if project team members see any problems, let me know.
Arroavantho is the project lead for this, so contact him if you are interested in helping out. Manual account creation is turned off, so I will create any accounts manually.

Are you sure about that?

After 3 years I''m still seeing "This site is still under construction. You can't enter yet. Come back later when we have more done!"

A few months later, "This is not the wiki you're looking for! We didn't recognize the URL you provided."
Was this one deleted for inactivity or what?

The Fans are welcome to rise up and revolt against Arro if they don't think stuff is happening quickly enough. If someone else is interested in taking lead, let me know!
Better hurry before I finish the comic next year!
(You should probably ignore any and all links that linger from that second fellow there.)
