Title: Sports
Post by: Blazkowicz on November 09, 2008, 03:31:30 AM
So, does anyone on this forum play any kind of sport?

I occasionally bowl and golf.

Sport?  What's that?  Is that like where you go.. outside and do... physical things...? *scratches head quizically*

Gah!  I took a golf swing class back in college as part of a PE requirement.  I am forever scarred from the experience. ;)

Although seriously, I do enjoy hiking in the mountains on the rare occasions I can flee this abysmally flat state.  Until then I suffice with weekend dog-walks. :)

I play golf....occasionally. I'm acceptable at it.

I also bowl occasionally. But I'm not so acceptable at it.

Used to run track....but then I learned that my legs were secretly digitgrade so my feet both got stress fractures, (okay, half true; my feet have uber-high arches, so the bones in my feet fracture easily from the stress of running,) so that was it for that. >.<.

I would LIKE to say that I "Play" a real kind of sport, but I don't have those kind of skillz. >.<

Cool. Though I must admit, I've mostly been bowling for the past few months. I haven't picked up a golf club in almost 6 months.

And I must hear how Vimir was scarred by golf, lol. Though if he wishes not to say, then don't worry about it.

Ouch, now that has to suck. I hope it doesn't limit you in any other way. Like are you able to walk/hike for long distances, or is that not a problem?

Well, let's just say it involved me looking ridiculous and perhaps a flying golf club or two. ;)

Ah, golf, that class reminded me so much of bowling. So many different tactics and lessons, but one could never quite think too much about a shot or else it was doomed off the tee and in the gutter. Very oddly familiar, and I could never quite be consistent in either. The scores always be all around the board.

What sport I need to get back into is casual cross-country skiing. The ab needs rescue.

Darn it! I wish I had seen this thread earlier.  You being forced to try this would have made a wonderful addition to the the Virmir Abuse Day sketches.  Thooooough, this would still make a hilarious sketch of flying golf clubs. XP

And... going to the (ooooold) purpose of this thread; I officially declare myself the least physically able member of this chat and challenge any of you to do otherwise!  Well... erm... Ok, maybe not THE... but I've never successfully done a single pull up in my entire life!:P

I played basketball for a few years on the community team, I wasn't that bad, but I wasn't scoring much

I'm fairly certain I've never done a pull-up either...

Also, you walk your dogs in the cold, Toast.  Whereas I just say "Sorry!" and throw the dog in the fence for a few hours. [;)

Ah, I remember pull ups. I have no upper body strength, but they were easy because I weighed near nothing

I like to go on long walks/hikes, or swim, but that's it for me involving physical activity. Also I am probably sort of not in shape, it's too cold to enjoy the outdoors like 2/3's of the year here where I hold up inside my warm, various electronics heated room! I also laugh at Virmir's post, but in all honesty I would likely do the same, and I never did pull-ups as well. [:)

I played Soccer as a kid and in High School and College. I also played "sneaker hockey" here and there.

I am in total agreement to this statement, I did play sports, and meh...I much rather play video games over that. Sports are not for Trask! [;)

Oh, you are talking about competitive sports.  Kayaking, fishing, hiking and climbing are my types of sports. Because nothing beats the sense of accomplishment seeing base camp from the peak brings!

I am not going to say how many pull ups I can do...
