Minecraft Multiplayer Server

Okay, got this set up, and FINALLY got it NOT to generate a snow world...

I have a Minecraft server running on my old laptop.  I'm just going to leave it on all the time, so hop on in!

We'll be using Hamachi for now to simplify things on my end.  Hamachi is a free tool to make it look like we're all on the same LAN.  I will look at operating outside of Hamachi later on.

To start things off, download "Unmanaged" Hamachi here:

Install it and follow the prompts.  If a dialog box comes up asking you what type of network you want to set it up as, you're going to want to set it as a "public network", because you probably don't want other CF members browsing your shared folders.  In fact, go to the network settings and turn off "file and printer sharing" for it completely.

Next you'll want to connect to the CF Minecraft network.  Click on "Join an existing network" and for the Network ID, put CF Minecraft.  Ask me on the chat for the password.  If you know the password, you can give it to other CF members that ask as well.  Keep it to CF community members only though.

At this point, Hamachi should be all set up and you won't have to go through this mess again.  All you'll have to do is start Hamachi, then start up Minecraft.

In Minecraft, click on multiplayer and enter the IP 5.195.224.208, and that should be it!

Let me know if you have any questions.  Going to head to bed shortly, but will leave this on all night and while away at work tomorrow, so we'll see if the computer's melted by the time I get back  or not.

Okay, I set things up so that you can connect outside of Hamachi now!  There doesn't seem to be a way to password protect it, so just poke me in the chat and I'll tell you what to put in for the IP field.  Also, once I tell you, feel free to give it out to CF members only.

That Tower I added steps to! You can See Niros Tower, in the distance, and we enclosed Digital Vulpines Bunker within our forts walls!

Awesome stuff, Kai.

I upgraded the server software to 0.2.1 this morning.  A few people played in there already and everything looks okay, but let me know if anything runs weird. (I backed up the old version and world beforehand.)

Also, since gold doesn't have much use in Minecraft apart from decoration, and because as a server admin I can give out stuff to people, I shall open up a shop!  Give me your gold bars and I'll sell junk to you.

Note that I've enabled the white list on the server.  This means that you need to contact me to get listed so you can join.  I listed people that joined from the records that I recognized, but likely missed some people.  If you can't join, don't panic!  Just talk to me so I can add you to the list.

Also note that all the Hamachi stuff above is no longer in affect.  If people are still interested in connecting through Hamachi, let me know.  But the "real way" is better.

The server was obviously unavailable while my internet was down the past few days, but it's back up now.  During this time, I built a new statue.

The first person to find the statue and post a screenshot here in this thread will get a simple sketch request! (In the manner of the 100 sketches topic.)

Hints:

- Its not any any new, unmapped terrain as of this map: http://gallery.virmir.com/main.php?g2_itemId=2078  If you're going out and seeing terrain that's not pictured there, you're going too far.
