Looks like we're set for strikers and controllers, So I think I'll make a Paladin, as I haven't tried a defender or a leader class, yet.

As for race, let's see...lemme' look over these new races of yours...

Catfolk...is that based on the 3.5 Catfolk from Races of the Wild?  Seems awful similar...

"Raki Focus: Your Passive Perception increases by +3 for the purposes of noticing shiny objects."

Nice.  :P

But...shouldn't Raki Mobility's header be red, since it's an encounter power, not green, like an at-will?

Anyway...

I'm gonna' try a Catfolk Paladin, Hard-Modding my stats in the Character Editor...Let's see how this works out...

Hmm...took a bit to sort a lot of that out, but...

Play Data Card

Note that I'm going with the Dex bonus, even though the Strength would likely be more useful, 'cuz I'm certainly not a big cat.

I think I'll try to join, after figuring out what means what, preferably as a Rouge

Geary: That means you get a companion for four levels, then it gets an upgrade.
Draykin: A very PAINFUL upgrade.
* Digital_Vulpine eeps, since the rules don't specify that I'm exempt from the psychic link that Wizards have with their familiars. o_o;

Raki Mobility is an at-will. I think I made their other bonuses either weak enough or more specialized enough to make up for it. You'll notice, for example, that Hounds have no racial power but a number of very useful innate abilities. I also just stole the Catfolk name from RoW, any other similarities are coincidental.

Well, if Raki Mobility is at-will, then it should've said so in the class feature, instead of "as an encounter power".

(Done nitpicking...for now)

Coincidental or not, it's similar enough to feel familiar to me, so I went with it.

Alright, I've got complete Rogue and Ranger builds.  The ranger build has a higher damage potential and the rogue build has more skills, but they both look pretty good so the final decision will depend on who else joins.  Looks like the party in general has pretty good damage potential with all these magic types, so I'll probably be a rogue.

Stat printout courtesy of Pathguy's 4e character generator.

For those of you still working on your builds, it's at http://www.pathguy.com/cg4.htm

Background story(-ies) to be completed soon.

PS: I really shot myself in the foot when I made a musket cost 75g.   XD

Edit: Preliminary backstories have been added.  I may add details as I find out more about the campaign.
As much as I'm starting to like my ranger, I'm probably going to play rogue so we'll have someone who can disable traps and serve as a resource acquisition specialist.

Current roster is as follows:

Aleph: Dragonborn Shaman (leader/defender)

Kampkraft: Human Wizard (controller)

Stormkit: Sorcerer (striker/controller)

Kenku: Kenku warlock or Bard (leader/controller)

Dragyn: Catfolk Paladin (Defender/leader)

Digital Vulpine: Human Rogue or Vale Ranger (both strikers)

Tvorsk: Vale Fighter (defender/striker)

For those undecided, it does not appear that your class choice will have a make-or-break impact. Please do not feel any pressure base on group makeup as all important roles are successfully accounted for.

You know... I'm pretty sure that you won't want me in here, especially considering that I'm still quite overwhelmed by the rules... But as Digital linked that neat generator, how could I not try to do a lame attempt at a Vale Fighter (however stupid that sounds)? {:P

EDIT:  File deleted, re-posted at further down the topic.

It's not supid. Vale of a +2 to Con, which is important for fighters. Anyway, 4e is setup so doing something like making a vale fighter (or half-orc wizard) is a valid option.

Oh, and if everyone else who signed up wants to write their chars a backstory that can help plant some seeds of further adventures beyond the ones I have planned. In any case if you don't give me some inkling of your char's history you'll be slapped with a cliche reason for grouping together (the horror!).

Well, I've got an old story about a catfolk paladin...might borrow that, though it's more "Fallen Paladin" material...

Come to think of it, 4th edition allows for that...could be fun...

Let me just dig that up...might need to change a few details (like the names).

Actually, that would be a fun character to throw in with you lot.  I'll use his old name, and assume he picked up some Plate Armor sometime since...

Well, Here.  Let me know if that works for you.

Well he may be thin, but he's certainly tall enough to be one of the bigger cats. I don't see why you can't use the +2 strength instead of +2 dex. Anyway, as for me I think I'll be using catfolk as it compliments sorceror very nicely (plus it lets me use my lynx fursona :p). Anyway, when you said sorceror, in your description there were mentioned two power sources that the book didn't cover, storm and cosmos. Where do I find the information for that?

They are in the Arcane Power supplement. I will allow their use, but it would require you to give up the ability to use one of the PH lines (wild magic or dragon magic). I plan on gradually allowing the Arcane/Martial/Divine supplements later on, so if you want to look at them beforehand you'll have to look on your own. I don't want to add the pdfs to the list and overwhelm people.

That was generally assumed I thought. You would only draw power from one source after all. So does this mean if I check their use and like what I see I can start my character with one of those two instead?

If that's the case, I might just change some of my feat/power choices to include the Divine Power versions.

I'm still gonna' treat Dragon Magazine as off-limits, though.  Just for everybody's convenience.

After figuring out what seemed to be the best choices (what little value that means coming from me), here is my character, Naito Sartain, who's name makes me think of Bioshock.

Geary: That means you get a companion for four levels, then it gets an upgrade.
Draykin: A very PAINFUL upgrade.
