I'm still wondering what Vera's big beef with Geo is.

I think she's a manifestation of the artist's pessimism or something.

I thought that was Self Confidence.

Whatever she is, she knows what Geo is saying and thinking. By her reaction, she likes this turn of events.

Also, did Geo just admit he knew that Vera was a threat to himself?

Pretty strange.  It reads like one of those weird fairy tales they make you read in English class. Though it sounds like it's exactly that in the world you're building, so should work.
