Title: Suggestions for chat features
Post by: Pontos on June 28, 2011, 12:00:53 AM
So, at least for now I've kinda ran out of ideas for new features and functions to implement in the chat (Brian is not cooperating), and as such I'm opening this thread here to listen to suggestions and ideas to make the chat a more bloated and chaotic enjoyable place.

Please refrain from suggesting massive additions like text-based games, RPs systems and other crazy stuff >_>.
What I'm looking for are ideas for simple but useful things like the stuff already added and documented in other threads in this subforum.

Keep in mind that suggesting something here doesn't mean it will be implemented. I'll check every idea to see if they are feasible, see if i feel like doing them, and then talk with Virmir and the other mods to see if they are acceptable.

Now, brainstorm away!

Becuase kit wont post it...

Actually, I like the idea of setting a custom login/logout message. Mine would be "And, for some strange reason, Risu once again left the chat all of a sudden."

Unless of course Virmir is the only one who deserves it.

I love that idea! We need it!

Oh yes, that's something I've wished we had for a really long time now. I never thought to bring it up, but there have been numerous times I wanted to leave a parting message but wasn't able to without saying something and then immediately logging off. Usually this is done with a /quit "message" command in IRC and other places. Though I wonder if it'd be possible to do the same for timeouts. Like perhaps set up a generic 'leave' message that will be said if you end up timing out. So if your connection that day is bad you can set it to "Oops, there goes my connection again!"

setting custom in/out messages would be cool, I think everyone agrees.. But Virmir might want to hold onto his super-special entrance message  [:P

Something I thought of (but don't know the viability of, in coding terms) was a sort of "quiet" channel, which has a limit to the number of people on it to, say, five. In case someone wants to get away from a load of fuzzies being silly and talking a bit too much, or if a small group wants to have an extended discussion on a particular topic without derailing the whole chat and discouraging people who don't know about the subject matter from talking, because they lack something to say.

Could also work without a limit, as sort of a back-room kind of thing. Secondary general chat, sort of.
Just my thought.

Have the /convert function cover more than just temp but distance and weight too.
Incorporate e (Euler's Number) and i into the dice rolls! ]:P  Seriously though if that seems confusing from a math angle getting my friend Nagol to work it out shouldn't be too hard.

Virbot is Virmir's jurisdiction. I'm not permitted to meddle with his code |:P

Regarding emoticons, Vir already stated that only those fox races featured in the comic will be officially implemented in the chat.

I'm looking into RT's suggestion regarding the /convert function, and talking with Vir to see if the custom message at logout is ok or not (At login is definitely discarded).

Maybe a random action command? like if you type in /random or /raction or something, anything like bapping, hugging, petting, squishing, pouncing, etc could happen? could be amusing when paired with random fuzzy command. [:)

Just a thought, you can totally ignore mine if you think it's stupid.

Okay, this idea came from a typo Medik made while me and him were talking:

A /giggle command.
